Ian Inglis of Black Rose Racing repeated his 2015 achievement by once again recording the fastest time of 56:05 to lift the prestigious Champion of Champions Time Trial Trophy on Sunday. The Champion of Champions Time was promoted by Ards CC on an out and back course with a dead turn at the halfway stage. Not noted for being a fast course Inglis still managed an excellent time of 56:05. some forty seconds faster than second placed Paul Carroll of Velo Café Magasin.… Read more

Ulster Riders Show their Calibre at Shay Elliott

aOn Sunday one of the biggest one day classics took place around Wicklow taking in several famous climbs such as that at Glenmalure. This race, run in memory of the famous Shay Elliott, and promoted by Bray Wheelers, is one on every rider's list of one to win. On Sunday this wish came true for Ulster rider Marc Potts of Neon Velo. Marc who hails from Omagh went clear in the first twenty kilometres with a small group of riders which included Conor Hennebry (Aquablue), Niall Clarke (ASEA-Wheelworx) and Paul Kennedy (Newcastle West CC).… Read more

Draynes Farm Bobby Crilly Classic Open For Pre-Entry This Wednesday.

On Saturday 11th June 2016, Phoenix Cycling Club will be hosting The Bobby Crilly Classic which will be kindly sponsored by Draynes Farm again this year, visit the Draynes Farm Website.

There will be a slight change in course this year but the iconic Divis mountaintop finish remains.  However, an unfortunate consequence of the course change means that the number of races we can run at the event must be limited.  Therefore we have decided to run two races; a combined A2/3 race and an A4 race. … Read more

Mayor of Derry Launches City’s Crit Countdown

critMayor launches ‘A Night at the Races’* - *Prize fund exceeds £1000 for top amateur cyclists*
For the fourth year running, Derry’s streets will hum from the spin of carbon wheels as Foyle Cycling Club’s annual Maiden City Criterium was unveiled today by Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Council, Elisha McCallion. With a strong field expected, including top Rás rider Ronan McLaughlin and last year’s A1 race winner, Angus Fyffe, ‘A Night at the Races’ will occur on Tuesday 7 June at 20.00.

Drawing crowds of 100s of spectators since 2012, the race is one of the blue ribbon cycling events to be held in Ulster, and this year the total prize fund exceeds £1000 for the first time.… Read more

Tommy Givan Memorial Provides Exciting Racing

Adam WaThe Tommy Givan Memorial Road Races, promoted by Maryland Wheelers got off to a fine start this morning as the sun shone and the roads were dry. First off were the U16's who were competing for the McCann Givan U16 Trophy. There was some aggressive riding but Adam Ward of Omagh Wheelers emerged as the eventual winner.

Shay Donley (Ballymoney CC) was second with Liam Hanley (Lucan CC) in third. Nathan Keown (North Down CC) and Rob Lawrence (Bann Valley RC) completed the line up for prizes.… Read more

12/05/2016 Ciclisport Glenshane TT Series – Round 1

Christie and Burns in Top Form at Opening Round of Carn Wheelers TT Series
The new TT Series being promoted by Carn Wheelers got off to a fine start this evening on the Glenshane Pass. All six rounds will take place on this course. The first round took place last night in dry and sunny conditions. However despite the seemingly ideal conditions testers faced swirling winds which made the going tough both on the way out and on the way back.

Marcus Christie of Causeway CC topped the leader board on the night with his blistering 19:57.50 time for the ten miles showing that he still has a powerful engine and will always be someone to beat.… Read more

West Down GP Now Open – Dunloy Races Opens This Friday

The West Down Wheelers will promote the West Down GP on Saturday 21st May 2016. This event is now open for pre-entry.  There are 3 Races on offer, the (A) Race for A2/A3 category riders only (Limited to 80 riders), the (B) Race for A4 category riders only (Limited to 80 riders) and the Masters (over 50's) and Women. The (A) race will cover 6 laps of the circuit and on the last lap (the 6th Lap) it will be the sting in the tail, the Rathfriland Hill and then back again to the finish at Katesbridge as per last year, the race distance is approx 56 miles.… Read more

Maiden City Crit Now Open for Entry

With a prize fund of £1,000 across all disciplines, entries are now being accepted for Foyle Cycling Club’s Maiden City Crit, which will take place in Derry City on Tuesday 7 June. The first race is scheduled to commence at 20.00 (8.00pm). For the first time in its history, the event is supported by TourismNI. Foyle Cycling PRO, Ronan Gallagher, said: ‘This promises to be a fantastic evening of cycling for riders and spectators alike. As an integral event of Derry City & Strabane District Council’s BikeWeek Festival, our ‘Night at the Races’ will bring excitement to the streets of the city!’

The Inishowen Charity Cycle happens on 14th May 2015. The 100 mile cycle takes riders around the Inishowen 100 route with a choice of routes for every level of cyclist. All funds raised go to charity and it will be be a great day out with plenty of craic and a good physical workout.… Read more
