Mackin Medals at Masters

Banbridge man Terry Mackin, a double silver medalist at the National Track Championships last month, moved up to the World stage this week, and on to the podium with a superb Bronze medal in the Kilomete Time Trial event in the UCI World Masters Track Championships in Manchester.

Mackin, who has put in a tremendous amount of work this year along with his coach Brian Cardy, came tantalisingly close to a world title, with all three medalists finishing on the same second.

The 35-39 yearold Kilo world title went to Britain`s Ben Elliott, closely followed by the USA`s Sky Christopherson with Mackin 3rd.

This brings to a close a superb season for the Dromore accountant who has set track records at Orangefield, pushed would-be Olympian Martyn Irvine for Gold in the National Championships and has rounded 2011 off on the podium at the World Championships.
