Juniors on Track for International Call Up.

Four of Ulster's top Junior riders will be up against tough track opposition this weekend when they travel to Edinburgh as part of the Cycling Ireland Track Commission Development squad to compete in the International Edinburgh Grand Prix. The quartet, who all cut their teeth racing at Orangefield in Belfast, are now stepping up to the mark against top class International competition in this event.
Some of these lads have been competing at Orangefield since the age of 12, and are beginning to see the rewards, competing at International level this weekend followed by a week's training at Aigle with the National Junior team before returning next Friday to head off again, this time to Newcastle for another Track Commission Development team appearance next weekend.

This weekend's entry list is headed by the British Olympic Development team, coached by Geoff Cooke, and with whom some of our lads trained with at Manchester in February. A Dutch development squad headed by well known Sprint brothers Patrick and Yoris Bos are also among the entries for the 2-days of racing which gets underway at the Meadowbank Velodrome tomorrow afternoon.

National Junior Sprint record holder Jonny Beers (East Antrim-Audi), clubmate Aaron Baines along with Team Madigan duo National Youth Time Trial record holder David Neill and Jonny Cole will line up with National Sprint Champion Michael Mulcahy and Limerick team mate Ivan Casey to represent Ireland in a number of events and disciplines over the weekend with the team being managed by Orangefield coaching duo Brian Cardy and Anthony Mitchell.

Local riders should note there will be no Track training session at Orangefield this Sunday, but training (and selection for the UK School Games) will recommence on Tuesday evening, with the Madigan Pro-Bike Centre Summer Track League due to get underway the following week.
