Heverin Claims Final Test In Dave Kane League

John Heverin (Clann Eireann-The Linen Green) was the victor in the final round of the Cycling Ulster-Dave Kane Cycles Time Trial League held at Ballydonaghy tonight. The Lurgan rider, who is only in his first competitive season, recorded a 20-43 for the 10 mile test almost a minute faster than runner-up Kieran McKenna from the East Antrim-Audi club. Hevrerin’s clubmate Thomas Martin was third, a remarkable performance from a junior rider. The stars of the night, however, were Johnny Cole, an Under 16 rider who recorded a time of 22-22, and 70-year-old Cormac McCann (Phoenix) with a stunning 23-14. McCann, father of international star David, had just returned from the World Master’s Championships in Austria where he finished 10th in the Road race and 6th in the TT events. The overall winner of the league is Stuart Bennett (Phoenix) who didn’t start last night but already had enough points to secure victory.
