Record Tumble at Woodgreen 10

Two new Irish records were set for the 10 mile distance in the Cycling Ulster – Dave Kane Cycles TT League at Woodgreen last night. Maryland’s Heather Wilson from Hillsborough posted a 21-49 improving on her own national record by 13 seconds whilst John Madden from Bann Wheelers took Sean Hargan’s (Total Cycling) title set in 2005 by recording a 20-21.
The event was won by Ryan Connor (Giant Asia) in a time of 18-52. He now joins Belfast David McCann as the only two Irish riders ever to record a sub 19 minute 10. Connors time was 31 seconds slower than McCann’s national record. The race attracted 80 entries from across the country with Dubliner (Swords CC) Colm Cassidy finishing second in a time of 19-36. One of the best performances on the night was that of John Heverin (Clann Eireann- The Linen Green) . This is his first competitive season and he finished in joint third spot with a remarkable time of 19-55 along with Ronan McLaughlin from Donegal.
