Cycling Ulster Training Camp

Cycling Ulster Training Camp
Carlingford Co Louth
1-2 Feb

Cycling Ulster in tangent with Cycling Ireland have completed a very successful training camp in the beautiful setting of Carlingford Co Louth.
Over 120 riders took part over the weekend ranging in age from 10 right through to veteran. Mtb downhill, cross-country and track as well as road riders all took part at the event.
As well as various training spins and specific strength and conditioning sessions, riders took part in lectures as diverse as Performance Profiling and Strength training for cyclists.
Representatives from the various high performance commissions laid out the plans for events for the coming year and cast an eye over riders that could be selected for international teams this year.
Probably the most encouraging aspect of the weekend was the huge amount of underage and junior riders that took part, over 70. The underage committee laid out a superb itinerary of lectures and specific training sessions for the different age groups and the site of such a large group of young riders bodes well for the future.
After a recent Executive meeting it was agreed that plans would commence for a similar event next year.
All in all a great weekend that will benefit many riders for the forthcoming season.

Barry Monaghan.
