Important TT’s Coming Up Including Ulster 10 Championship

With the Ulster 10 mile Time Trial Championship taking place at the end of the month testers will be targeting similar time trials to get into shape and there is plenty to chose from. Finn Wheelers are running a 10 on Monday night, La Lanterne Rouge on Tuesday night, The Ernie Magwood 10 on Sunday and TVR Series on Wednesday 27th with Ulster Champs on 31st. Full Details of these events below.

Entry for Rd 4 Ernie Magwood TT Series Closes Tomorrow

Round 4 of the 2016 Hayes Fuels Ernie Magwood Super 6 league takes place at Woodgreen on Saturday 16th July. Sign on is from 9:00am with first rider off at 10:00am. PLEASE NOTE: Due to holidays and available help there will be NO entry on the day. You must use Race Pass to pre-enter. Entry closes tomorrow 15th July at 2.00pm. Once its closed, it’s closed. 03/07/2016 Ulster 50 Mile TT Championship – Woodgreen

Christie Crowned Ulster 50 Mile TT Champion
The 50 mile TT Ulster Championships hosted by Maryland Wheelers were held in conjunction with the Tommy Givan TT Cup  on the fast Woodgreen course today. Twenty nine riders set about achieving their own personal goals in conditions which competitors confirmed were less than favourable. A blustery wind made a hard day in the saddle even more difficult but the silver lining was that the rain stayed away.

However, there were some great times and it was the current Irish 50TT record holder Marcus Christie (ASEA) who claimed the top honours with a time of 1:43:11.… Read more

Competitive Events this Weekend.

This weekend sees Newry Wheelers promote their very popular three day stage race on Friday to Sunday while in Donegal Four Masters Cycling Club witll be promoting the JG Memorial Race on Saturday For those who prefer to go it alone against the clock you can line up in the Ulster 50mile Tommy Givan Championship event. Tommy Givan/Ulster 50 Mile Time Trial Championship – Sunday 3rd July 2016

The Tommy Givan 50 Mile Time Trial which incorporated the Ulster 50 mile TT Championship will be  run on the Woodgreen course next Sunday 3rd July. The event will cover 3.5 laps of the course. Sign on is at the lay-by adjacent to Tannaghmore Service station on the A26 dual carriageway between Antrim to Ballymena. Sign-on opens at 8.00 and closes at 8.45 am. with the first rider off at 9.00am
There is no pre-entry for this event and riders can enter on the day of the event.… Read more

National Championships Event Information

The 2016 National Road Race Championships will take place in  Kilcullen from the 23-26 June promoted by Orwell Wheelers. This year's Championship has not had a smooth passage this year with the venue being changed several times. However Orwell persevered and now have courses which they feel are worthy of a championship.  The new courses in Kildare will provide a perfect location for top class racing across the Elite Women, Elite Men, U23 Men, M40, M50 and M60 categories. The Road Races will take place in Kilcullen over 25-26 June, with the Time Trial course running from Kilcullen to Athy and back on Thursday 23rd June 2016.… Read more

19/06/2016 Father’s Day 25m TT Woodgreen

Ballymoney CC promoted its Father's Day Time Trial this morning on the Woodgreen circuit. Forty one riders took part, six of whom were women showing that women's cycling continues to grow. The weather was cool but with light rain at times.

Marcus Christie of Team Asea Wheelworx dominated the event coming in almost five minutes faster than nearest rival Chris Hutchinson of Team Madigan. Christie recorded a blistering 50:25 for the twenty five mile course while Hutchinson came in at 54:53.… Read more

16/06/2016 Ernie Magwood Super 6 Rd 3 – Woodgreen

Marcus Christie of Asea Wheelworx continues to show his return to form when he won tonight's Round 3 of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 TT League. He posted a time of 19.18 which was almost a minute faster than second placed rider,  Craig McAuley of Caldwell Cycles. Team Madigan's Chris Hutchinson was third with 20:27. Ali Gribbon of Carn Wheelers was first of the M40 class an fourth overall with 20.45 while Sharman Crawford of Bann Wheelers topped the M50 class with 22:13.

Sean Hargan of Phoenix CC continues to dominate the M60 class with his 22:38 although Dominic Drumm of Bann Wheelers wasn't too far behind with 22:46.… Read more

Feast of Crits and TT’s During the Week

From hard paced, technically skillful criteriums to man against the clock, those who enjoy this sort of racing have a glut of it this week. There are three crits on with Old Bleach promoting the Antrim crit on Tuesday, Ards CC running Town Centre races on Wednesday and the Bann Wheelers promotion of the Coleraine crit on Thursday. Please Note : Phoenix CC's  Crit in the Part on Friday night is cancelled. For the testers the TVR TT Series continues on Wednesday evening while the Ernie Magwood Series takes place on Thursday and on Sunday Ballymoney run their Father's Day 25 mile TT. … Read more

07/06/2016 Ciclisport Glenshane TT Round 2

c1The Ciclisport Glenshane TT Series promoted by Carn Wheelers continued last night with the second ten mile TT on the Glenshane pass. Craig McAuley was on form and took the win in the Elite class with a time of 20.12. Second placed rider was John Madden of Inspired Cycling who was also the first of the M50 class. Madden completed the course in a time of 21.03.  Third place went to Junior rider, Conor McCann (Asea Wheelworx) with a time of 21.15.

Second Elite rider was the home club's Joseph McCrory who recorded a 21.27 while third Elite was his club-mate, Jonny Taylor with a time of 21.31.… Read more
