Winners abound at Emyvale

aThe Emyvale GP races got off to a fine start on Sunday with warm, sunny weather which remained until the last lap in the main race when the skies opened making things difficult for riders, judges and spectators alike. As per usual the hardworking Emyvale club ran a full series of races for youth riders in the morning. At the moment we do not have those results but would appreciate it if someone could forward those on to us.

More Pre-Entry Events – Newry Crit, Derry Crit, Red Hand, Hill Climb

There are lots of events now open for pre-entry. A few are listed below. Don't miss out:
Newry Crit Open For Pre-entry

On Wednesday 3rd June the hard-working Newry Wheelers cycling club will host the Newry City Crit and pre-entry is now open on Entry Central. Pre entry for the race is set at £10.00 but if there are places available on the night the entry fee will be £13. Newry Wheelers will also host Youth racing on the night and Youth races will be from £4.00 with entry on the night.… Read more


Weekend Off-Road and Road Competitive Events

Lady-Dixon-PosterRound four of the Ulster XC Series is taking place on Sunday 22nd May as well as two road races.  These are the Bann Wheelers GP races and the West Down GP. On Sunday Emyvale CC promote their usual full day programme of events for all categories. Sunday also sees the start of the An Post Rás eight day Stage Race and we wish all our local riders the very best in this extremely tough event.

Hard Racing at Carndonagh

aSaddlerock CC ran a superb set of races on Sunday with events for U12's up to Elites and Masters. The course was that used for the National B Championships a few years ago which is a rolly course of twenty miles taking riders through beautiful but bleak countryside and past several lakes. While the day dawned fine and sunny it was cool and there were strong winds out along the course which never seemed to be of any advantage to the riders. The U12 and U14 youth riders competed on a shorter course.… Read more


Mayor of Derry Launches City’s Crit Countdown

critMayor launches ‘A Night at the Races’* - *Prize fund exceeds £1000 for top amateur cyclists*
For the fourth year running, Derry’s streets will hum from the spin of carbon wheels as Foyle Cycling Club’s annual Maiden City Criterium was unveiled today by Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Council, Elisha McCallion. With a strong field expected, including top Rás rider Ronan McLaughlin and last year’s A1 race winner, Angus Fyffe, ‘A Night at the Races’ will occur on Tuesday 7 June at 20.00.

Drawing crowds of 100s of spectators since 2012, the race is one of the blue ribbon cycling events to be held in Ulster, and this year the total prize fund exceeds £1000 for the first time.… Read more

Tommy Givan Memorial Provides Exciting Racing

Adam WaThe Tommy Givan Memorial Road Races, promoted by Maryland Wheelers got off to a fine start this morning as the sun shone and the roads were dry. First off were the U16's who were competing for the McCann Givan U16 Trophy. There was some aggressive riding but Adam Ward of Omagh Wheelers emerged as the eventual winner.

Shay Donley (Ballymoney CC) was second with Liam Hanley (Lucan CC) in third. Nathan Keown (North Down CC) and Rob Lawrence (Bann Valley RC) completed the line up for prizes.… Read more


12/05/2016 Ciclisport Glenshane TT Series – Round 1

Christie and Burns in Top Form at Opening Round of Carn Wheelers TT Series
The new TT Series being promoted by Carn Wheelers got off to a fine start this evening on the Glenshane Pass. All six rounds will take place on this course. The first round took place last night in dry and sunny conditions. However despite the seemingly ideal conditions testers faced swirling winds which made the going tough both on the way out and on the way back.

Marcus Christie of Causeway CC topped the leader board on the night with his blistering 19:57.50 time for the ten miles showing that he still has a powerful engine and will always be someone to beat.… Read more


Weekend Road Events: Updated Times for Carndonagh Youth Events

This weekend there are two races taking place to suit many categories. These are the Maryland Wheelers promoted Tommy Givan which also features an U16 event and the Carndonagh GP which features races for all categories including Youth, Women and Masters. See below for details.

Sun Finally Shines for Rd 3 Ulster XC at Ballykelly

The day started off wet and miserable but still the riders came in droves to Ballykelly Forest where Caldwell Cycles were promoting Round 3 of the Ulster Cross Country League. The club had designed a new and challenging course which was more challenging following the rain. However the sun did eventually appear and the day brightened and warmed. Caldwell Cycles had put much effort into ensuring that everyone enjoyed their experience in the North West and congratulations are due to all those who helped out to provide a great day's racing.… Read more

Tommy Givan RR Opens Tomorrrow

The Tommy Givan Memorial Road Race, promoted by Maryland Wheelers will go live for pre-entry tomorrow at 7.00pm on www.entrycentral.com. This race takes place  on Saturday 14th May 2016. Maryland will be promoting four races on the day. There will be a handicapped A1-A3 event, an A4 only race and a women's race. Maryland will also host a race for U16 riders. The riders will be competing for the McCann Givan Cup.

The Hillsborough based race will see A1/2/3 riders completing 7 laps while the A4 race will consist of 4 laps of the nine mile circuit.… Read more
