Junior Tour of Ireland – starting list
The 2014 Junior Tour of Ireland starts today in Ennis County Clare and continues until the 20th of July. Cycling Ulster has a team of four riders entered (Ryan Reilly, Cathal Clarke, Ryan Orr and Darnell Moore) but there are other Ulster riders competing as part of other teams. Ulster 10 Mile TT Championships Open for Entry – Pre Entry Only
The Ulster 10 mile Time Trial Championship will take place on Sunday 10th August 2014 on the A2 Toome course promoted by Church Island Cycling. Sign-on will be at Erin's Own GAA Clubrooms, Shore Road, Toomebridge from 8:30 until 9:30 witht he first rider off - 10:01am.
A Limited Competition licence is minimum required and must be presented at sign on. Testers starting times will be determined by the order of registration on Entry Central, with the exception that handcyclists will start first. Entry closes at midnight on 8th August.… Read more
Ulster Youth Championships – 26 July 2014
The Ulster Youth Cycling Championships will be promoted this year on Saturday 26 July in Craigavon by Clann Eireann Cycling Club. The club is grateful to our club team sponsors, KD Gas Services/Ideal, as well as the David McCall Foundation, Classic Mineral Water Company and Chain Reaction Cycles for generous support. There will be a Youth Training day at Orangefield Track in Belfast this Sunday (6th) in preparation for the upcoming Sainsbury`s UK School Games (Track) and UK Inter-Regional (Road) Championships both of which take place in September. The days activities will include both Road and Track disciplines. … Read more
Youth off-road skills training evenings during the summer
Cycling Ulster's Off-road Commission is hosting 4 sessions of youth off-road skills evenings starting on Monday 30 June 2014. The sessions are aimed towards riders under 14 years of age with the training taking place in 4 different venues which have flat grass areas. This is now the fourth year that the commission has been running this type of training and we do hope to see lots of young riders coming along.… Read more
Festival Of Racing In Ormeau Park.
Phoenix CC organised their second race of the week on Friday night. The Crit in the Park event in Ormeau Park in Belfast followed on from the Bobby Crillly Classic last weekend. The weather was kind and the evening started with the young riders taking to the circuit for the U10 fun race. Many young riders took part with a variety of ages involved but all had a good time and enjoyed being cheered on by the crowds.

Dry trails at Garvagh Forest MTB race
Garvagh Forest, located in the centre of the town of Garvagh, was the location for Round 5 of the Irish Mountain Bike Cross-Country National Point Series (NPS), hosted by Carn Wheelers. This round also doubled up as Round 4 of the regional Ulster Cross-country (XC) series. The club had ran the Irish National Championships at this venue in 2013 and had put on the same set up for this round with car parking in the old school grounds and start/finish on the main fire road. The course itself was largely the same with some new sections added that the course designers had been working on since the championships.… Read more
Upcoming Competitive Events this Week
With Bike Week on our doorstep there are a lot of events coming up this week. Tomorrow night (Wednesday) Ards CC once again host their annual Town Centre races with racing for most categories including youth. Ards Town Centre Races Report
Andrew McCullough (Kinning Cycles) was a worthy winner of the main A1/2/3/Jun race at the Ards Town Centre Races on Wednesday evening. The race was run as a short handicap, with the A1/2s giving away 40 seconds to the A3/Juniors.
The attacks starting immediately, with junior rider Evan Donoghue from Letterkenny holding a small advantage for couple of laps. He was soon replaced at the front by Andrew McCullough. Behind, the A1/2s had caught the main bunch, and the counter attacks came thick and fast. It was Glen Kinning (also from Kinning Cycles) who eventually managed to escape the bunch, but Andrew managed to hold on for the win.… Read more
