Cycling Ulster/NICF Insurance Situation

Cycling Ireland has now received confirmation from its insurers that they will cover Cycling Ireland members whilst competing in N.I.C.F. events for public liability insurance in the event of a claim against them and when the member is found to be negligent.

Castlereagh Success at Navan

Castlereagh C.C. were well rewarded with their trip to Navan for the Cycleways Cup series of races. Seventeen year old Peter Hawkins, fresh from his victory the previous day at Annaclone, emerged victor once again in the Third Cat, Veteran and Junior event.
In the B event Gerard Heverin finished in 6th place to add to Castlereagh's success.
Newly formed Cycling Ulster club Crannog Ireland also tasted success with Paul Mulligan winning the Senior B race.
The main event was won by V. Gleeson (West Clare CC) while the best of the Cycling Ulster riders was Mark Kiernan (Total Cycling.Com) in 5th place.… Read more

That magic blend of youth and experience ensured a 1 -2 for Peter Hawkins and Brendan Graham at the opening race of the season at Annaclone.

Promoted by Banbridge CC and sponsored by Travers Engineering of Rathfriland, the 40 mile handicapped event attracted 76 riders who were despatched in three groups with a total handicap of six minutes.

Veteran Graham (Total Cycling) realising the dangers of the fast closing 2nd Cat bunch, initiated the winning move when he left the limit group accompanied by Castlereagh junior Hawkins and Omagh Wheelers veteran Micky Gallen.… Read more

Cycling Ulster Schools Project.

Barry Monaghan Cycling Ulster's new Development officer is currently putting together a schools initiative for the Ulster region. Initially 6 clubs will be involved and the first schools' skills programmes will commence mid to late March.
The six clubs involved in the initial programme will be Newry Wheelers, Clann Eireann, Banbridge CC, Lakeland CC, Fintona CC and Emyvale CC. The initiative is intended to create an awareness of cycling and cycling skills and will primarily be aimed at late primary into 1st and 2nd year age groups.… Read more

Cycling Ulster in tangent with Cycling Ireland have completed a very successful training camp in the beautiful setting of Carlingford Co Louth.
Over 120 riders took part over the weekend ranging in age from 10 right through to veteran. Mtb downhill, cross-country and track as well as road riders all took part at the event.
As well as various training spins and specific strength and conditioning sessions, riders took part in lectures as diverse as Performance Profiling and Strength training for cyclists.… Read more
