Gort na Drum Sperrin Sportif Raise Funds for Charity

Roe Valley CC welcomed 120 riders to Gort na Drum House for the 4th annual Sperrin Sportif. Seventy riders took on the 65 mile route and fifty the 30 mile route. Pleasant sunshine, accompanied by very stiff winds, made for a difficult day in the Sperrins. However, this was all forgotten about when the craic, banter and stories of heroics were shared at the barbeque after the finish.

Many thanks to Patricia and her staff at the Gort na Drum for their hospitality and support, Drum GAC for use of their shower and changing facilities and also to Pauline of the Red Cross, who thankfully had an uneventful day.

Proceeds were divided between Marie Curie Cancer Care (£800) and David McCall Foundation (£400).

It was particularly good to have Phil Holland representing the David McCall Foundation taking part and accepting a cheque from Chairman of the Cycling Ulster Youth Commission, Roe Valley’s George Boyd.
