Dromara Raise Funds for Children’s Charity
Local cycling club, Dromara Cycling Club, recently presented a cheque for £200 to the Energy for Children Charity. The funds were raised from the club's annual Slieve Croob Hill Climb Challenge which saw dozens of riders complete a gruelling time trial ascent of the mountain. Funds raised will go towards the Energy for Children Charity which provides financial support to groups and individuals that may slip through the net of the wider charity network.
Founded on the principle that 'all monies raised go directly to local children and young people', the Trust aims to reach deeper into the heart of local communities to really make a difference to disadvantaged children's lives. Since its formation, the trust has helped over 6,000 local children and every month continues to help those who need it most.
Cyclists Dig Deep for Charity: Dromara Cycling Club Chairman, Eddie Doyle presents a cheque for £200 to Geri Wright from the Energy for Children Charity. The funds were raised from the club's annual Slieve Croob Hill Climb Challenge which saw dozens of riders complete a gruelling time trial ascent of the mountain with a new record set this year of 13 minutes 37 seconds. A new feature of the event included a children's gymkhana event at St Michael's Primary School, Finnis, sponsored by Phoenix Natural Gas. The funds raised will go towards helping local disadvantaged children throughout Northern Ireland. For more information on the Energy for Children Charitable Trust, visit www.phoenixgroupni.com.
