Inglis Lifts Red Hand Trophy

Ian Inglis of Black Rose CC took perhaps the biggest win of his career when he crossed the finish line in first position in the Red Hand Trophy Race promoted by Ballymena CRC. The Red Hand Trophy dates back to 1898 and is possibly one of the oldest and a long standing event in the calendar. This event receives full PSNI support as it winds its way from Broughshane through the Glens of Antrim, an arduous 70 miles. As usual racing was fast and furious with some riders being dropped early on.

Inglis took the win in fine style from Alan Bingham of Cuchullain CC and Patrick Doogan of Powerhouse Sport. Shane Smyth (Moynalty CC), Ethan Downey (Clann Eireann), Conor Gallagher (Castlebar CC), Michael McGlynn (Omagh Wheelers), Christopher Birney (SportActive), Nathan Mullan (Dromara CC) and Conor Halvey (NRPT) lthe top ten for points.

As usual there was a great spread of food after the event which was much appreciated. Thanks to the organisers, ambulance, commissaires and the PSNI.
