Autumn Cycling Beginners’ Sessions Commence this Weekend

Foyle Cycling Club's autumn series of beginners' sessions for cyclists commences on Saturday 15 October. Meeting at the Sports Complex and running for consecutive weekends throughout October, the Club is hoping to encourage new people into cycling, as well as those riders back who may have been off their wheels due to injury.

Club PRO, Ronan Gallagher, said it was a great way to stay active through the autumn months: 'the social and physical benefits of cycling are wide ranging, and we all know that during these dark mornings, the exercise levels can quickly fall away.' Explaining the process he continued: 'Potential members can take part in 3 club runs before they need to join the club, primarily for insurance purposes. The rides are tailored to the ability of the beginners, as are the distances cycled. We're hoping to encourage more people to consider the bike not just as a competitive and leisure activity, but also as a means of transport in and around our city.'

Riders should be at the Templemore Sports Complex before 09.00 on Saturday morning where they'll be greeted by club leaders. Helmets are essential. For further information contact enquiries@foylecycling.net.
