Up-coming Events Leisure and Competitive

There are a number of events coming up in the next week. These include two time trials, a crit in Strabane and the Leisure event promoted by Castlereagh CC. Full details below.

Sunday 24th July 2016 Ernie Magwood Memorial 10 Mile TT
On Sunday East Tyrone CC will be promoting their annual 10 mile Time trial in memory of deceased member Ernie Magwood who was a great stalwart of the Time Trial scene. The event takes place on the Omagh Rd circuit with the sign-on from 9.00am. Sign-on will take place at Meteor Electrical, 7 Corchoney Road, Cookstown Co. Tyrone BT80 9HU. First rider off at 10.00am. There will prizes for the top three overall plus first woman, first East Tyrone member, first Junior and first U16.

Sunday 24th July 2016 Forestside Fundo
Castlereagh CC will be promoting the Forestside Fundo on Sunday in conjunction with M&S in aid of Marie Curie. It promises to be a great family day out with a walking group led by M&S and a thirty mile (or 60 miles for those more intrepid cyclists) cycle ride led by Team Forestside/Castlereagh CC riders, then back to Forestside for refreshments, music and face painting on mall. Forestside’s charity partner Marie Curie will benefit from the proceeds as well as Action Cancer so if you’re free on Sunday 24th July please go along and support these worthy charities. Wednesday 27th of July 2016 Strabane Criterium
Strabane Lifford Cycling Club are holding their annual town Centre Cycle Races on Wednesday 27th of July 2016.The racing takes place on a closed road circuit consisting of a 650m course which is visible from any part of the course. The racing gets underway from 7.30pm sharp for A4, SLCC (LCs) & Women. The riders will ride for 20 minutes, plus 3 laps, with 2 prime laps at 10 and 15 minutes. There will be a Family Cycle @ 8 pm consisting of 2 laps. Cyclists can enjoy the atmosphere of the event.

At 8.15pm the main race takes place, where riders will ride for 30 min and 2 prime laps at 10 and 20 minutes for A2, A3, A3 juniors and U16 riders who have been approved by Cycling Ireland to take part in Senior events.

Race Sign On is from 6.30pm and entry fee is £10/ €12. Cycling Ireland Licences and race Numbers must be produced at Sign on. PLEASE NOTE: THE RACE CAN ONLY BE RUN ON A DRY COURSE AND IF IT HAS TO BE CANCELLED, THIS WILL BE POSTED ON FACEBOOK BY 5.00PM ON WED! Hopefully the weather will be favourable and it will be a good night's racing.

TVR Series 10m TT Wednesday 27th July
Promoted by TVR this 10 mile TT takes place on the Warrenpoint to Newry dual carriageway. Sign-on is at Warrenpoint Harbour Docks at 6,00pm with first rider off at 6.45pm
