Competitive Events this Weekend.

This weekend sees Newry Wheelers promote their very popular three day stage race on Friday to Sunday while in Donegal Four Masters Cycling Club witll be promoting the JG Memorial Race on Saturday For those who prefer to go it alone against the clock you can line up in the Ulster 50mile Tommy Givan Championship event. Fill details of this Ulster Championship can be found HERE. For the Off Roaders there is the Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup Rd3 doubling up as the Ulster Enduro Championships. This Ulster Championship takes place at Kilbroney near Rostrevor. Details below

This year has no time trial and will see the introduction of time bonuses at end of the stages and during stages also.

Saturday 2nd July JG Memorial Race Cranford, Co Donegal
The Annual JG Memorial Race will take place in Cranford on Saturday 2nd July. The ‘JG’ is Donegal's longest established cycle race.This year it will be hosted by Four Masters CC. It takes place in Cranford, 25k north of Letterkenny.

The 80k. 1/2/3 race will be over 2 laps of an undulating 40k course going to Milford, Kerrykeel, Rosnakill and crossing the Blaney bridge before reaching Cranford

There will also be an A4 race held over one lap(40k) and a Masters Race (40k).
Sign-on at Logues Bar, Cranford from 11.00am with the A race starting at 1.00pm.
Entry €15.

Both races will be run under Cycling Ireland regulations and will carry points.
The Masters Race will be for riders over 50 who hold a club competition licence or higher and it will be run as part of the Ulster Masters League.

Sunday 3rd July Ulster Enduro Championships Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup Rd3

Rostrevor needs little introduction. Many high profile events have made Rostrevor the epicentre for Irish mountainbikers. Uplift is allowed for Saturday practice only. Sports category will not need to conquer the first infamous climb.

Main race – 5 x 3-8min stages, 27km lap, fitness 8/10, skill 8.5/10

Sport – 3 x 3-8min stages, 17km lap, fitness 6.5/10, skill 7/10
