Apollo CT’s ‘Off the Sofa to Saddle’ Sportive

apOn Sunday the progressive Apollo CT who celebrate their twentieth anniversary this year is promoting its ABC Sportive which is the culmination of their Sofa to Saddle programme.  People in the Armagh, Banbridge,  Craigavon area have been on a 10 week programme hosted by local cycling clubs, Apollo CT, Dromore CC, Banbridge CC and Portadown CC.

This is part of a funded Public Health Agency scheme along with Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council   A total of 60 people have been introduced to cycling through the programme and fears dismissed about the black art of cycling clubs.

There are two routes available of 60km and 100km. This sportive is open to everyone not just those who have participated in the scheme. The run brings in the sights of the Apple Orchards in Co Armagh moving on to Keady Mountain where there will be an opportunity to take a selfie at the top. Best selfie will win a spot prize. Then riders will sweep down into Markethill and on into Tandragee finishing up in Gilford and across back to Craigavon.  with fully marshalled junctions, full mechanical backup, broom wagon and food stops and a BBQ at finish for everyone.  Price is £20 and includes a goodie bag.

There is also a fun event on Saturday for all abilities of cyclists and to encourage children to participate.

Well done to all the clubs, Apollo CT, Portadown CC, Dromore CC and Banbridge CC for promoting the health benefits of cycling in their local area.
