SPAR Tour of Omagh gears up

Whilst the dust has barely settled on the Irish National Championships, Omagh Wheelers CC are gearing up again for the 2015 SPAR Tour of Omagh, which will take place from 7-9th August. The event, which is widely recognised as one of the best A4 stage races in Ireland, will follow a similar format to previous years with three road stages and a time trial stage.

The event has a new Race organiser in 2015, with Niall McEnhill stepping into the hot-seat. Niall is looking forward to the event “It's been great to be a part of a race as renowned as the Tour of Omagh in the past, and I'm looking forward to the challenge of organising this year's event. A tough course awaits those taking part and it should make for an exciting weekend of bike racing!”

New title sponsors, SPAR, have also come on board, Emma Greene, PR & Communications Manager at Henderson Group, owners of the SPAR franchise in N.Ireland commented on their support, “We are delighted that for the first year ever SPAR will be supporting the Tour Of Omagh 2015. As title sponsor we are confident that this unique and challenging event will be well supported by not only local cycle enthusiasts but by cycle clubs throughout Northern Ireland. The Tour of Omagh 2015 is aimed at A4 racing cyclists and truly tests Cyclists limits by providing a range of competitions within the overall race.

“Supporting the ‘Overall Leader’ competition too, SPAR as always would like to encourage participates to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. SPAR stores throughout Northern Ireland supply a wide range of fresh healthy locally sourced produce, perfect for participants who are in training and want to prepare well-balanced healthy meals. We are proud to be associated with this exciting event and would like to encourage as many people to take part and stay active.”

The race will once again have plenty on offer in terms of competition. The men’s race will cater for 110 cyclists, 100 of which will be allocated to team entries, and there will again be a separate women’s race in 2015. There are plenty of jersey competitions to play for again, with the overall race sponsored by SPAR; Sprints competition sponsored by JMG Systems; KOH competition sponsored by GMG Logos; women’s race sponsored by AMCO; and the Combativity competition sponsored by WW Tyres.

Entries will open online for the event on 24th July and close on 31st July via entrycentral.com. For further details, check the Omagh Wheelers website www.omaghwheelers.co.uk
