Cycling Ulster Team For Shay Elliott

Cycling Ulster have announced a development squad for the prestigious Shay Elliott memorial, 160k race next Sunday. The team consists of Adam Petrie Armstrong, Frazer Duncan and David Watson from Northern Dave Kane CC, David Mulholland (Apollo CT)and Michael Murray (Clann Eireann). Frazer Duncan is no stranger to this event as he has been part of the Cycling Ulster squad for the past two years. In 2004 he had the misfortune to puncture at the wrong time and could not get service quickly enough. In 2005 he rode a much better race and felt thet the experience of competing with so many top riders was of great benefit. In the pic below we see Frazer in action on the top of the Shay Elliott climb last year.

Mulholland and Murray are first year seniors and this event will give them the experience of a tough race. Adam Armstrong who rose from second to first cat within a few weeks of becoming a senior rider has proved very strong all year. David Watson was out of the scene for much of last year due to an accident but in recent days has shown he is very much back on form. He only needs a few more points to gain first category status.

The team will be managed by Noel Gallagher ably helped by Kieran Mulholland. The Shay Elliott, promoted by Bray Wheelers and sponsored by Murphy and Gunn always attracts top cyclists from home and abroad and is a tough race, We wish the Cycling Ulster team the best of luck.
