The George Rooney Phoenix GP – Pre entry Open Tomorrow

mconWith the racing season only a few weeks away pre-entry for another big event will open soon.  Pre-entry for the George Rooney Phoenix Grand Prix, sponsored by McConvey Cycles, will open on entrycentral.com at 7pm on Tuesday 10th Feb.

This is always a very popular event and riders are advised to get in early to avoid disappointment as in previous years several of the races have filled up in less than an hour.

For full details please read the information from the club below.

The George Rooney Phoenix GP With McConvey Cycles.  22nd February 2015
From this year the Phoenix GP will be dedicated to the late George Rooney.  Geordie, as he was affectionately known, was an honorary life member of Phoenix and was for many decades a quiet figure at the heart of the club.  He bolstered the club in many ways from acting as team manager to sponsoring young riders as they took their early steps into the world of top level cycling.  Many of these riders went on to represent Ulster and Ireland at the top level and it is for this generosity that he will be most fondly remembered, even though he usually sponsored them anonymously but the riders always knew it was Geordie helping them.  He is both sorely missed and fondly remembered.

The event will take place on Sunday 22nd February 2015 and is sponsored by McConvey Cycles of Belfast.

This event will have a pre-entry which will open at 7pm on Tuesday 10th Feb and close on the 18th February. As entry is on a first come, first served basis with a limit on the entries for each race, riders are urged to submit their entry as soon as possible.

This year sign-on will return to the Crumlin Community Centre from 9:30.  As the Community Centre is now also a Leisure Centre there will be full changing and showering facilities available as well as refreshments before and after. The sign-on fee is £12 for everyone except juniors who pay £6.

All riders mush have the appropriate CI license card or print out from the CI website.  One day licenses will be available on the day at a cost of €20 / £18 non CI members, €10 / £8 CI members without appropriate race licence.

No refunds for riders withdrawing will be issued.
