Successful First Event for VC Iveagh

vc1Velo Club Iveagh held their first open event on Sunday, "The Iveagh 50" autumn sportive raising funds for the Intensive Care Unit, RVH.

An overwhelming 97 riders cycled the rolling route throughout the district from Banbridge Rugby Club taking in towns and villages like Scarva, Loughbrickland, Rathfriland and Dromore to name but a few.

The weather was perfect with very light wind and lovely sunshine all day after the morning fog had lifted.  A re-fuelling stop was welcomed in Moneyslane before a fantastic spread of tea and cakes awaited everyone at the finish.

Feedback has been very positive and the club hope to make this an annual cycle. A lot of planning and organisation went into making the day such a success and VCI would like to thank members and friends of the Club for their all their help with sign-on, marshalling, photography, broom-wagon and with refreshments.  Banbridge Rugby Club, St John's ambulance, Keel Wheelers Motorcycle Club and to sponsors Fegan's Farm Shop, Eric Toal, Chain Reaction Cycles, Chris Custom Designs and Bike Shak.
