Events on this weekend 6/7 September

A host of leisure events on this weekend along with some competitive ones too. On Saturday the Dave McCall Bun Run heads out, on Sunday the leisure rider has the choice of the PIPS run, the Harvest Tour, Spires CC Sportive and the Minnie Clarke Tour. For the off-roaders there is the final round of the Ulster XC series at Craigavon on Sunday.

Dave McCall Bun Run - Saturday 6 September 2014
Maryland's club run on Saturday September 6th will be the David McCall foundations annual fund raising BUN RUN to the BallyGally. Sign-on is from 09:00 at the Lisburn Leisure-plex, leaving sharp at 09:30 with the following agenda:
A steady group ride out the Glenavy road to the White Bike on the Belfast Road at Nutts corner.
After flowers are left we split into 2 groups and follow the road arrows with BR to the BallyGally via Lylehill, Templepatrick, Doagh and Ballyclare.
Return via Ballyeaston, Doagh, Dunadry, 7 mile straight, Budore and Glenavy roads.
Distance approx 78 miles.
Unfortunately the cost of running the event has risen and an entry fee of at least £12 to cover these costs and to maintain our support of Youth Cycling in Ulster would be gratefully appreciated.
Hoping to see plenty of you there,
On behalf of the foundation,
Phil Holland.

PIPS - Sunday 7 September 2014
The annual charity cycle in aid of PIPS, the suicide organisation, takes place this year on 7 September. Around 200 mostly local people took part last year, raising in excess of £3,500. The organisers are hoping for at least those kind of numbers again this year. Starting from the Clann Eireann clubrooms, participants have a choice of two routes. The sixteen mile run is popular with many who are not regular cyclists, and the thirty mile route is for the more energetic, taking in Aghagallon, Gawleys Gate, and Crumlin before returning by Glenavy and Aghalee.

Supported by the Golden Crust Bakery, Classic Minerals, Hannon fruit and vegetables, as well as the Legahorey NISA grocers, everyone will be provided with refreshments after the cycle in Clann Eireann youth club. Marshalling and support vehicles provided by Brownlow Radiators will do their best to make sure everyone gets back safely.

Registration for those taking part starts at 9.30 am at the Clann Eireann club, with the first group leaving at 10.00. Safety helmets are essential. Intending participants can get sponsorship forms from Clann Eireann Social Club bar, or from cycling club members.
