19/07/2014 Ulster 25 m Time Trial Championships Clady

Strong Performances at the Ulster 25 mile TT Championships
BannValley Road Club promoted the 2014 Ulster 25 mile time trial championships on Saturday 19th July 2014 at Clady. Sean McIntyre won the men's Ulster 25 mile time trial championships at Clady in a time of 54 minutes and 9 seconds. It was a very close contest for the top three as silver went to Stephen Colbert (Colbert Cycles) just five seconds slower and Belfast teenager Daniel Stewart (East Antrim) was third at seven seconds.

The promoting club staged a first class event on a challenging course which went from Clady (near Portglenone) through Kilrea and back. Best Veteran was Des Woods (Newry Wheelers) 56:11 with Ivan Robinson (Ards CC) 56:57 and John Smyth (Phoenix CC) third in 58:17.

Diarmud Logan (Spires CC) did 59:47 to win the Junior Gold while Harry McComb (East Tyrone) took the silver with 62:19 and Jody Evans (Carn Wheelers) bronze with 62:42.
Eileen Burns (Ballymena Road club) was first female with 63:02 and best veteran female was Judith Russell (66:31).

Darrell Irwin (Ulster Hand Cycling Association) won the hand cycling race in a time of 84 minutes 46 seconds.
Bryan Philips was second in 87:15. Kay Hack (Bann wheelers) piloted Banbridge CC para cylist Diane White to success in this category in 71:07.

The club promoted a very safe and well organised event. The refreshments at the finish were excellent as usual not to mention a cup of tea or coffee when you arrive. Well done to Bann Valley.
