aThe inaugural John Mulligan Memorial race took place on Sunday the 6th July promoted by Caldwell Cycles of Omagh.

There were two races on the day. The main race kicked off with the A3’s getting a two minute handicap over the A1/A2’s .

The race came together before they had finished the first lap of the 22 mile course. As they crossed the line going into the second lap there was a group of ten riders with a minute advantage over the main field. There was a lot of activity on this lap where Fraser Duncan(Northern Dave Kane) and Connor Murphy (Caldwell Cycles)making it across to the break where Murphy joined his team mate Paul Mulliganof the promoting club.

The A4 race lined up shortly after the main race. The riders had twolaps of the 22 mile course. The bunch mainly stayed together and although riders were trying to make a move  but the bunch was having none of it. Any move was covered and brought back in.

On the line it was Dunlop from (Harps CC) that took it on the line with Fitzpatrick unattached taking 2nd and Stewart from (Maryland Wheelers )coming in 3rd.

This was the first year of the John Mulligan Memorial road race and the organisers and the Muligan family would like to thank all cyclists for coming and making the day possible. A big thank you also to all the Marshall's and motor bike men and lead cars drivers who gave up their time to help keep the riders safe on the road. The Halfway House put on an amazing spread of food and Milestone Centere Carrickmore gave the use of their great facilities. 01Media were also on board to capture the cyclists in action.

Many thanks to Dunamona Engineering for sponsoring the spectacular silverware and all the neighbouring clubs and our 2 race commissaires Jackie Watson and Paul Devenney for all their advice and support and help which made it a fantastic success and finely all the  residents in Carrickmore, Sixmilecross and Beragh for coming and showing their support.
