Mighty Craic at Team Building Day

aDespite the icy road conditions this morning fifteen young Cycling Ulster riders managed to make it in to the Dundonald Ice Bowl to begin a series of activities.

Ciara Doogan and Amy Harkin even travelled all the way from Donegal to attend.

First on the agenda was the ice skating which got the hearts pumping as everyone tried to stay upright. Sean McNicholl and Nicola Oldham were old hands at this and were able to show off their skills.

Shenna McKiverigan was the best of the riders initially but Declan Mulholland, Conor McLoughlin and Jake Gray were determined to improve and by the time the session was ended they were well into the swing of it. Mark Downey decided that he had definitely chosen the right sport and intended to stick to cycling.

From the rink all then headed to the bowling alley where we split into three teams and the real competition began. Breanden McCavana emerged as top bowler but it was Patrick Buchanan's team which had outright victory despite an initial lead by Craig McCauley's team. Mark Downey got the prize for the most inventive swing of the day while Cameron McIntyre even managed to make the bowling balls bounce!!

Lunch was next and everyone was certainly ready for this after all the activity. Aaron Swan came into his own at lunch time packing away enough food to feed an army but as he said he'll easlily burn it off in training.

During lunch in the gallery there was an opportunity to watch another group on the climbing walls and frames. There were a few relieved faces when Ryan announced that this was not one of the activites due to the fact that the group was too large. Young riders who seem to have no fear in a bunch sprint certainly seemed to prefer having their activities at ground level.

Laser Quest and Crazy Golf followed lunch and there was great craic during these activites. Hayley Priestly was taking no prisoners particularly in the golf session while there seems to be some mystery about how Aaron's golf ball ended up in the water. Ryan Orr, James Curry and Matthew Teggart were able to show off their skills in the shooting as well.

Many thanks must go to Ryan Connor for organising the day and to Nicola Oldham, Sean McNicholl and Tommy and Marian Lamb for coming along as leaders for the day.
