Thompson Takes First 25

Simon Thompson continued his domination of the Cycling Ulster - Dave Kane Cycles TT League when he won the first "25" of the series tonight. The riders took full advantage of the tail wind on the way out but the gusting headwind on the return leg reduced some times. Ben Morrow (East Antrim/Audi) and Aaron Deane (Total Cycling/Litespeed) came in joint second with an excellent time of 55.44.

However it was a good night for some riders with Finbarr Cummins(Phoenix CC) putting one minute into his previous best time and Adrian Mc Dermott (Total Cycling/Litespeed) more than pleased with his PB of 57.01. Michael McLoone and Brendan Doherty, both of Total Cycling/Litespeed, were riding their first 25 and with times well under the hour they had reason to celebrate. Brendan ended up in third position, an excellent result.

Most unfortunate rider of the evening was last year's stalwart, Henrik Nowack. Last year Henrik was a regular at the Dave Kane League but a move to the west coast of Ireland for study purposes meant he was unable to travel until now. Unfortunately a puncture during warm-up put Henrik out of the running. However Cycling Ulster are delighted to see his return and hope he will now be a regular competitor in this popular event.
