Ireland’s Richest One Day Classic

Ireland’s richest one day race takes place this Saturday when North Monaghan CC host the inaugural Barry Murphy Memorial Border Classic at Aughnacloy. The Crannog Ireland sponsored club have put up a staggering 4,000 Euro prize money thanks to extra sponsorship from Industrial Buildings Ltd, Castle Mechanical Handling Ltd Daewoo Forklifts, J.G. Kelly UVPC Materials Monaghan, BD Foods, Rockwell Water and Blackwater Cottage Restaurant.
There will be racing for all categories including Women and Youth . The Senior A race for 1st and 2nd category riders will complete 3 laps of the Aughnacloy, Caledon, Eglish circuit (80 Miles)while all other categories will complete 2 laps (54 Miles).Included in the races will be Hot Spot Sprints for 60 Euro and the winner of the A race will walk away with a cool 500 Euro plus the Barry Murphy Perpetual Trophy.
The generous prize fund wil see the Women's winner lift 100 Euro with prizes going down to 6th place. The winner of the B race will receive 250 Euro with prizes going down to 10th place. Sign on will be at Blackwater Cottage restaurant from 11-45am and the riders will leave for a rolling start at 12-55pm sharp. The youth racing gets underway at 11-00am on a 5km circuit with trophies for U12, U14, U15 and U16 riders.
With T.V. coverage assured plus the generous prize fund this inaugural event should attract full fields for each race.

There will trophies for Under12's, 14's and 16's with prizes down to sixth place in each category. There will also be 3 prizes each for Under13's and Under 15's.
