21/07/2013 Ernie Magwood Memorial Time Trial

Sunday 21st  July ETCC held their 3rd annual Ernie Magwood memorial 10 mile TT on the notoriously fast Omagh road circuit - As always ETCC held an impressive event , right from the marshal coverage , professional timing system,   facilities for tea afterwards, and new addition this year a launch ramp to add to the professionalism if the event.

Based on previous years attendees, with winners such as Ivan Reid and David McCann this was always going to be a prestigious event attracting the best testers from 18 different clubs throughout the province and as far away as Donegal.  This was proven to be the case when Marcus Christie and John Heverin pulled in to sign on.

The circuit started with a tail wind for 3.5 miles until the turn , then for 6.5 miles there was a 10mph head wind severally slowing riders down towards the finish - however some impressive times were still recorded , - winner on the day was Marcus Christie (Foyle cc) with a time of 19.34, this was time meant an average of over 30mph , second to him was East Tyrone’s Gary Jeffers with an impressive 20.58,  and 3rd was John Heverin (Clan Eiran) with 21.03

East Tyrone also provided prizes for first Junior , Robert Greer (Apollo) with 23.40 , first rider on a road bike was Ciaran Porter (Four Masters) with 24.23 and first lady was East Tyrone's Ann McFarland with 25.22.    As this was one of Ernie Maywood’s favourite circuits he would have loved to see such phenomenal times set on what he called his home circuit.

East Tyrone would like to thank,  local cement producer LAFARGE tarmac for their sponsorship of the event , the Bramble inn and Kildress plumbing for the use of their premises , all marshals and time keepers , and  very proud to have the Magwood family there to present the prizes .
