02/05/2013 Spires TT Trilogy Round 1

The first of the Spires Trilogy TT’s took place tonight on a very windy Toome course.

Thirty Six testers lined up on what turned out to be a difficult night with a strong head wind on the outward 5 and not a great advantage on the way back. Despite the conditions some fantastic times were set with only 3 seconds between Stuart Bennett (Phoenix CC) in first place and Matthew Heaney (Clann Eireann) in second, being the only 2 testers to go below 22 minutes.

Stephen Harkens (Team Madigan) set a good time in third. First woman tonight was Laura Maxwell (Roe Valley) with Gillian Orr (North Down) in second and Sheena O Neill (Island Wheelers) in third.

Well done to everyone who turned up to support our event tonight. Thanks to all the club members who turned up to help on the night and special word of thanks to the PSNI for assisting at the roundabout. This made for a very safe event tonight.
