Fyffe Takes Ards Crit

aLast night Ards CC promoted their well organised Town Centre Races beginning with a full programme of events for youth riders. There was a large crowd of over thirty riders aged between 3 and 10 for the novice class which was won by Aliyah Rafferty of Island Wheelers.

Shea O’Kane (Phoenix)  emerged as winner of the U12 event which had nine competitors., Adam Rafferty (Island Wheelers CC) and Rachel White (North Down CC) took second and third while Avie Doherty (VC Glendale) was first unplaced girl.… Read more

McGlinchey in Top Form at Antrim Crit

aLast night Old Bleach Cycling Club promoted the Antrim Town Centre Criterium in conjunction with the Antrim Festival. They had a number of races on offer and the club had gone all out to minimise risks with straw bales in abundance around the short, technical circuit. The local PSNI were also on hand to assist the many marshalls around the course. Old Bleach are to be congratulated on promoting such a well organised event.

Feast of Crits and TT’s During the Week

From hard paced, technically skillful criteriums to man against the clock, those who enjoy this sort of racing have a glut of it this week. There are three crits on with Old Bleach promoting the Antrim crit on Tuesday, Ards CC running Town Centre races on Wednesday and the Bann Wheelers promotion of the Coleraine crit on Thursday. Please Note : Phoenix CC's  Crit in the Part on Friday night is cancelled. For the testers the TVR TT Series continues on Wednesday evening while the Ernie Magwood Series takes place on Thursday and on Sunday Ballymoney run their Father's Day 25 mile TT. … Read more


Foyle CC’s Maiden City Crit a Real Success

Foyle CC promoted their annual Maiden City Crit on Tuesday evening. This event showcases cycling skills at their best as riders take corners at high speeds, climb steep hills such as Ship Quay Street and descend rapidly. Crit racing is not for the faint-hearted but it is a great spectator sport. Foyle CC pulled out all the stops to make this a great event.

Despite the early evening rain in Derry city, over 1000 people came out to cheer on the competitors in this evening's Maiden City Criterium, which finished in beautiful sunshine on Foyle Street.… Read more

This Week’s Events

There are lots of events on during this coming week starting off with the Maiden City Criterium in Derry and the Maxwell Memorial Time Trial in Warrenpoint  both taking place this evening. On Thursday night there is another crit taking place  in Ballymoney while at the weekend we have a couple of leisure cycles such as Cycle for Oisin, Saddlerock Fundraiser, Slieve Gullions Leisure Event and the Hills of Donegal Tour as well as road racing with the Bobby Crilly Classic on Saturday and the John Mulligan Perpetual Trophy on Sunday.… Read more


Kinnings Hill Climb, Crit in the Park and Lurgan Criterium Open for Entry

There are three events now open for pre-entry. These are the Kinning Cycles Crighton’s Green Hill Climb, Phoenix CC's Crit in the Park  and the Clann Eireann promoted Lurgan Crit. Details of these events and how to enter are listed below.

Maiden City CRIT Approaches

With only five days to go to Foyle Cycling's Maiden City CRIT, the line-up for the big night is already taking shape. Christopher McGlinchey (Chain Reaction Cycles) - who rode so impressively in the Kerry Group Rás Mumhan earlier this year - will go up against Roger Aiken, Adam Armstrong and Jason Henry among a strong field that should guarantee an exciting night's racing. With the long-range forecast predicting a warm and pleasant evening, Tuesday's CRIT should be the most competitive in its four-year history.

Coleraine and Antrim Crits and Bangor Coastal All Open for Entry

DSC4042Bann Wheelers Criterium, the Antrim Festival Criterium  and the North Down Bangor Coastal Challenge are now open for pre-entry. Places in all of these events are likely to fill up fast so you would be advised to get your entry in early.

Bann Wheelers Town Centre Crit Coleraine
Bann Wheelers will be promoting their town centre criterium in Coleraine on Thursday 16th June and this is now open for pre-entry. The race itself will start on Church Street go through The Diamond, Queen Street, Millburn Road, Union Street, Brook Street and back into the town centre along Church Street: Circuit. Read more


Kinning Showed His Crit Expertise at Newry

Last night Newry Wheelers promoted their annual crit around the streets of Newry City. The weather was perfect for the night and the good crowds enjoyed the high quality racing. Newry wheelers ran a full programme of events and first of were the youth races with the under 12's first.

Adam McGeever of  AAA didnt waste anytime attacking out of the blocks and took a solo win ahead of Quillan Donnelly of Bikeworx with Maria McAllister in 3rd from Island wheelers.

The under 14 event saw another dominant display this time from Ryan Gereghty of Bikeworx with Odhran Doogan (Errigal CC) taking the sprint for 2nd and Chris Donald 3rd from Team Madiagn.… Read more

Newry Crit Open For Pre-entry

On Wednesday 3rd June the hard-working Newry Wheelers cycling club will host the Newry City Crit and pre-entry is now open on Entry Central. Pre entry for the race is set at £10.00 but if there are places available on the night the entry fee will be £13. Newry Wheelers will also host Youth racing on the night and Youth races will be from £4.00 with entry on the night.… Read more
