Phoenix CX – Lady Dixon – Gallery

aOver 300 riders lined up in the various mtb and CX races promoted by Phoenix CC today in Lady Dixon Park. The beautiful  sunshine made it feel more like summer yet the park was awash with autumnal colours.

The organisers had pulled out all the stops to make the event fantastic both for the participants and their supporters.

The hard working catering team supplied hot and cold drinks and a huge array of buns and cakes throughout the day to anyone who wanted it. For the partiipants there was also delicious home made stew and hot dogs, What other event would you get so much for so little.… Read more

CX Training Day 2014 Picture Gallery

The Off road Commission Chair, Martin Grimley, ably assisted by Lisa Millar of the Ulster Women's Association gave an excellent training day on Sunday to help provide new comers with some of the skills of cyclocross.

The day was well attended and the pictures below will give you some idea of the skills delivered.

Ulster 100 m TT Championships 2014 Gallery

Ras Dhun na nGall Stage 4 Gallery

Once again Four Masters are to be congratulated on their excellent promotion of the Rás Dhún na nGall. Each year the hard working club try to make the race safer and better and this year was no different with hundreds of barriers brought in  for the occasion. These lined the main street of Ardara on the Friday night stage and cordoned off a large part of Glengesh on Sunnday for the final stage. And these proved necessary as over one hundred spectator cars arrived at the top of the scenic climb.… Read more

Tour of Ulster Stage 3 Gallery 2014

In very cold and wet conditions the final stage of the Tour of Ulster took to the roads around Maghera. Aqua Blue were to dominate the event with Damian Shaw emerging as overall victor with McCrystal taking the stage win and the points jersey. Daniel Stewart of the Cycling Ulster Slane Cycles Team emerged as the best young rider.

It was a tough day for all concerned with five laps of a hilly circuit which also included the climb of Matty's Brae.

Tour of Ulster Stage 2 Gallery 2014

The Second stage of the 2014 Tour of Ulster was won by Damian Shaw of Team Aqua Blue and he was followed in for a close second by team-mate Bryan McCrystal. Marcus Christie riding for the Cycling Ulster- Slane Cycles team was a fantastic third while Cormac Clarke also riding for Ulster retained the Young Rider Jersey.

It had been a tough day in the saddle for the riders with a number of tough climbs before the infamous climb of Bishop's Road

Tour of Ulster Stage 1 Gallery

Forty six year old Greg Swinand showed them all how to do it today when he won the opening stage of this year's Tour of Ulster promoted by Carn Wheelers. The veteran rider who currently rides for UCD soloed home to take a fine victory after a tough 98 mile stage around Lough Neagh.

North Down's David Watson was second ahead of John Mason of DID Dunboyne. Cormac Clarke riding for the Cycling Ulster Slane Cycles squad took the U23 jersey while John Mason is in the Polka Dot jersey going into tomorrow's stage.… Read more

Tour of the North 2014 Stage 1 Gallery

In an exciting first stage of the 2014 Tour of the North, Fraser Duncan of Northern Dave Kane took a well deserved win from James Cullen of Velosure Giordana. The two riders had broken away from a break of seven in the closing miles to go on their own.

Cork Junior, Eddie Dunbar riding on the Cycling Ireland development squad took the KoH jersey while Sebastian Bayliss took the Young rider jersey.

Brian Stewart of Phoenix CC took the bunch sprint to take eighth place.

Bann Valley Classic Gallery 13/04/2014

aaThere was great racing around Clady on Sunday when Bann Valley promoted their annual Bann Valley Classic. Alistair Gribbon of Carn Wheelers took the win in the A race while relative newcomer Craig Rea won theB Race for A4 riders. Both events passed off safely and were well organised.

Wallace Caldwell Gallery 2014

The Wallace Caldwell Memorial Road Race was won today by Adam Armstrong of Northern Dave Kane after a fantastic ride over the seventy mile course. His club-mate Fraser Duncan took second with Cormac Clarke of Newry Wheelers in third. These latter two had ridden a stormer to get back to the break and power their way through to take the podium places.

Also riding well today was Marcus Christie of the Sean Kelly squad, Mark Buchanan of North Pole and  James McMaster of Curran Racing.
