22/07/12 – Olympic Bound McCann Fastest in Ernie Magwood Memorial TT
David McCann dominated the Lafarge Cement Ireland sponsored Ernie Magwood Memorial 10 today at Cookstown. David, who is travelling to London to represent Ireland at the Olympics, used the event as his tune up before he does battle with Fabian and Co next week. On the day he showed his world level talent with a clear win by 1m 54s over his nearest rival, and also shattering the course record by 32 seconds in far from ideal conditions. Runner up to the unbeatable was Stuart Bennett of Phoenix, who is a past winner of the Inaugural Super 6 league which Ernie had co-created, with another rider Ernie respected, Ivan Robinson of Ards, who was the defending champion being shaded for 2nd by a single second.… Read more
19/07/12 – NI 25 Mile Time Trial Championship Results
John Heverin (Clann Éireann) continued his fine form this month by winning the NI 25 mile time trial championship on the Woodgreen course last night. Conditions were less than ideal with riders having to tackle a brave head wind when going in the Ballymena direction. Despite this Heverin's time was a new Irish Veteran record subject to ratification by Cycling Ireland. Two minutes behind in the silver medal position was Stuart Bennet (Phoenix CC) and Ivan Robinson (Ards CC) who took third overall. Tonya Moran (Unattached) won the women's title with Sinead Rivers (Roe Valley) lifting silver and Rachael Withers (West Tyrone Velo-FCC) the bronze.… Read more
14/07/12 Ernie Magwood Super Six Results
When John Heverin informed me mid week that he intended to make an attempt on the Irish Vets 10 mile record, I was certain he was off his rocker. It is widely accepted that mornings are usually slower than balmy evenings, and the Target he was aiming for, John Maddens previous record of 19:55 wasn’t exactly an easy one. On the morning itself, the usual, cool, with a tailwind out, headwind home, only confirmed the suspicions that a record time couldn’t be set. However as all was in place, with a turn Steward, Official Commasaire etc he went for it.… Read more

28/06/12 David McCall Foundation TT Series
The third round of the David McCall Foundation / Bikedock TT series took place last night on the 10 TT course at Woodgreen. The unpredictable weather of late probably put a few testers off but for those who made the journey they remained dry. Some good times were recorded on a night where conditions were described as "a little less than perfect".
Most notable on the evening was posted by the winner Ronan McLaughlin from the An Post team who recorded a personal best for the distance of 19.50, beating his previous best by 6 seconds.… Read more
21/06/2012 Longest Day Mountain TT
Duffin Transport organised what will hopefully be an annual event going forward - namely the 18 mile Longest Day Time Trial. The route taking in the scenic climb of Orra mountain in the glens of Antrim attracted some twenty riders, Numbers were down due to the fact of the National TT Championships were taking place in Clonmel on the same day and the poor weather conditions. However those who turned up enjoyed the experience and thanked Duffin Transport for their superb organisation on the night. The honours on this occasion went to Stephen Harkins of Team Madigan who set the marker for the course record in a time of 46.06.… Read more
14/06/2012 Spires Trilogy Rd 3 – Toome
The third and final Spires Trilogy TT took place on the Toome course tonight. There was a good turnout of 31 cyclists on a very windy night. The very strong Easterly tail wind on the outward 5 saw some very fast times to the half way turn. It was a very different story on the way back with a real slog and difficulties getting even close to 20mph in sections. David McCann set a very fast time for the conditions of 20:55 in what was a good training night for his Olympics later in the summer.… Read more
10/06/2012 Ernie Magwood Super 6 Round 3 Omagh Road
On a beautiful Sunday morning, which is rare for the Super 6, the testers travelled from all over to the super fast Omagh Rd, which despite being a single carriageway with a dead turn and a low traffic count was the scene of many PBs.
John Heverin yet again won the event and lowered the course record to 20:11, just failing to catch his minute man Gary Jeffers who has been in amazing form on this course all year, as he also recorded a best 21:08.… Read more
05/06/2012 Jimmy Devlin 10 – Ballydonaghy
The weather cleared up just in time for Jimmy Devlin Time trial held on the Ballydonaghy course. The roads were still wet and the rear lights were a necessity but it all went off with only one hitch when Maryland’s Colin McElderry came off at the airport roundabout. Well done to Thomas Martin on the win, Stuart Bennett on 2nd and winner of the Jimmy Devlin trophy (again) and Rodney Stewart on third. Well done also to the only junior rider of the night Connor Young of Ballymena Chain Reaction who produced a very impressive time to record a new PB on a tough course.… Read more
