The Ulster 100 mile Time Trial Championships took place on Sunday and despite windy damp weather eleven riders took part with eight finishers. Newry's Niall Clarke took the Senior Gold medal with a superb time of 3:51:45. He was followed in by John Madden of Inspired Cycling in a time of 3:56:19 and he takes the gold medal in the M50 class. Newry Storm to Victory in Team TT Championships
The Ulster 25 mile team time trial championships take place on Tuesday evening in dry but windy conditions. Twenty two teams lined up to pit their skill against the clock on the Woodgreen circuit, arguably the fastest time trial circuit in Ulster. This proves the popularity of the event which has continued to grow in numbers since its inception.
Favourites going into the event were the Phoenix A team which included a number of seasoned testers. East Tyrone have also done well in this event over the past years while Carn Wheelers have been producing testers who are consistently in the results.… Read more

Hutchinson, Lamont and Hargan Among New Ulster 100 TT Champions
In what only can be described as horrendous conditions a group of hardy men and women lined up a Woodgreen this morning to take part in the Ulster 100 mile Time Trial Championships. While the riders faced a headwind initially by the time they had completed four of the seven laps the wind played a significant part in reducing the rider's speed. Chris Hutchinson of Team Madigan proved to be the fastest rider over 100 miles managing to break the four hour barrier, despite the wind, recording an excellent 3:59:50.… Read more
Christie Takes Ulster 25 Senior TT Title
Island Wheelers promoted an excellent Ulster 25 mile TT Championship today on the Dungannon Rd circuit. Marcus Christie of Team Asea Wheelworx was the fastest overall lifting the Senior men's title with a time of 49.17 followed in by Craig McAuley (Caldwell Cycles) with 51.59 and Chris Hutchinson (Team Madigan) with 53.56.
As expected Eileen Burns of Ballymena CRC was the Elite Women's Champion with Claire McIlwaine of Phoenix CC taking silver. While Karen Hull of Phoenix CC was third and in past years would have lifted the bronze medal, the rules imposed by Cycling Ulster this year see Karen lose out on a medal.… Read more

The final round of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial League took place last night on the Woodgreen course in less than favorable conditions. The Super 6 TT league has been well supported throughout the year and some fast times have been reported especially on the Woodgreen course. This time it was the turn of John Madden to top the leaderboard posting the fastest time on the night with a 20.01 and also giving him the fastest M50 time. Second place went to aspiring Junior, Marc Heaney of the NRPT squad with 20.06 while Rodney Stewart (U/A) continues to impress by taking third with his 20.09.… Read more

Christie Tops the Chart at Ulster 10m TT Championships
Marcus Christie, who broke his own 50-mile TT Irish record last Wednesday night, continued his winning form by setting a course record of 18:34 at the 10-mile TT in Eglinton, County Derry, today. The event, which was hosted by Foyle Cycling Club, saw an impressive field of 70 riders compete across all disciplines. With a strong southerly wind aiding riders on the return journey to the finish, Christie mastered the circuit and had almost two minutes to spare on Chris Hutchinson of Team Madigan in second place with 20:32, and Christian Nachtigall from Belfast club Phoenix, completing the Senior Men's medal list.… Read more

Christie in Top Form at Ernie Magwood Memorial '10'
On Sunday East Tyrone CC held their annual ten mile time trial in memory of deceased member Ernie Magwood. Twenty one riders took part in the event and thankfully the rain held off for the event.
Marcus Christie of Team Asea was in top form winning the event with a time of 19:56 over a minute faster than Joe McCrory of Carn Wheelers who posted a 22:07. Third place went to another Carn rider, Ali Gribbon with 22:18.… Read more

Craig McAuley of Caldwell Cycles consolidated his lead in the Glenshane TT Series promoted by Carn Wheelers tonight when he emerged as the winner recording a time of 20:13 for the ten mile course. The next three places were taken by the TT specialists of the promoting club namely Joe McCrory, Jonny Taylor and Ali Gribbon. These three have emerged as serious riders in the 'race of truth' and are always near the top of the leader-board in TT events. Ali Gribbon was also the first of the M40 class.… Read more

Round 4 of the Hayes Fuels Ernie Magwood Super 6 TT series got underway on Saturday morning on the Woodgreen circuit. Unusually the traffic was quite busy, for a Saturday as there was a steam engine rally in Ballymena but this did not deter the riders. The weather at Woodgreen was dry with some sunny intervals but with a fair breeze which the riders found a hindrance.However the winner seemed to find this no problem at all as Craig McAuley of Caldwell Cycles, romped to first place with his 20:12.… Read more

Christie Crowned Ulster 50 Mile TT Champion
The 50 mile TT Ulster Championships hosted by Maryland Wheelers were held in conjunction with the Tommy Givan TT Cup on the fast Woodgreen course today. Twenty nine riders set about achieving their own personal goals in conditions which competitors confirmed were less than favourable. A blustery wind made a hard day in the saddle even more difficult but the silver lining was that the rain stayed away.
However, there were some great times and it was the current Irish 50TT record holder Marcus Christie (ASEA) who claimed the top honours with a time of 1:43:11.… Read more
