Irish National Championships on Eurosport

Flagship Road Event Set For Broadcast on 'The Home of Cycling'
This year's Women's and Men's elite road races at the National Cycling Championships will be televised for the first time on British Eurosport. Ireland's top road racers will feature in a half-hour highlights show to be broadcast in the week following the championships in Omagh, Co Tyrone on June 27th 28th. National Time Trial Route Details Revealed + Test TT

omaDetails of this year's National Championship time trial course were revealed by Race Director Stevie McKenna at the recent launch event in Omagh. The course, which is based on a single 23 mile loop, breaks from traditional flat routes and features a challenging and hilly profile with almost 1000ft of climbing.

McKenna said it’s going to be one to remember, “The course is a World's style course and it will certainly remove the predictability of flat out and back courses. It throws a bit of everything at the rider, but the first half will be the decisive element with a lot of hilly tough terrain.… Read more

Clifford Wins Gold at Apeldorn

 Eoghan Clifford has won the World Title in the Men's C1-2-3 Scratch Race at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands today. This adds to the Bronze medal that the reigning Road and Time Trial World Champion won in the Pursuit event on Friday. Clifford rode a strong race keeping the pace high in the earlier stages, before attacking with about 25 laps remaining, and lapping the field. The silver medal went to Joseph Berenyi (USA) and bronze to Eduardo Santas Asensio (ESP). Colin Lynch was also competing with Clifford in this event, but suffered from a puncture in the closing laps when he was forced to retire from the race.

2015 Ulster Leisure Calendar Now Available

The provisional 2015 Ulster Leisure calendar is now available for download. The calendar is very full with lots of different events around the country including off road leisure events.

The road events vary from tough sportives such as the Around Down Audax and the Inisowen 100 to easier events such as the PIPS Charity Ride which has routes suitable for families.

This year there are a number of clubs promoting events specifically for women such as Omagh's Heels on Wheels, Dunloy's DCC Ladies Cycle Event and Errigal's Women's Strawberry Run.… Read more

Cassidy and Meehan Tops in Father's Day Super Sunday 25 TT
The Super 25 mile time trial took place at Woodgreen on Sunday 15 June 2014 (Father's Day) hosted by Ballymoney Cycling Club. The event was a great success with a field of 51 riders. The conditions were sunny and warm however there was a strong blustery wind. Fastest male was Colm Cassidy (UCD) in a time of 49.39. Lynch Takes Silver C2 Pursuit at Track World Championships

Colin Lynch won Silver in Men's C2 3km Pursuit at the UCI Paracycling Track World Championships, recording a blistering fast time of 3.43.423. In the Gold medal ride off he met reigning Paralympic Champion from China, Guihua Liang, who out powered him over the 3km race against the clock. Both tandems were competing in the 1km Time Trial, earlier this evening, where they finished outside the medals, with Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal storming to a new National Record in a time of 1.10.893.  Ireland's Enda Smyth was also in action today, breaking the Irish Record in the Men's C3 Pursuit in a time of 3.40.297, putting him in tenth place.… Read more

Mizen to Malin on a tandem bike built for two
Armagh Danny as he is often referred to abroad wasn't satisfied with climbing Ben Nevis twice in the one year decided, last week, to cycle from Mizen head in Co. Cork to Malin head in Co. Donegal. Again this is the second time he has completed this event having previously completed it on a single bike in 2002. This tandem cycle event organised through his work with RNIB consisted of 10 tandems piloted by sighted cyclists with blind or partially sighted cyclists as their stokers covering 450 miles in 7 days.… Read more

The Ever Popular Freewheelers Tour of Lough Neagh This Saturday.

The annual  Freewheelers charity cycle tour / wheelchair push  organised by the Ulster Hand Cycling Association will take place on Saturday 3rd August 2013. This will be the 23rd year of this popular event.

Participants should assemble at the Antrim Forum Peace Carpark between 9.00am -9.30am, and report to the 'event registration desk' in order to receive an official participation number. This number will entitle persons to the refreshments which will be available on route.  A minimum donation of £10 will be accepted at the desk by those wishing to take part but do not possess a sponsor form.… Read more

Christie Crowned Ulster 10 Champion

Marcus Christie was the only rider to break the 20 minute mark today as he picked up his second Ulster gold medal in a week after his stunning ride in the 50 champs last Sunday.
