26/04/2012 Spires TT Trilogy Round 1
28 Testers turned up tonight for the first of the (Spires CC) Trilogy time trials on the Toome circuit. This was a very tough cold and windy night with a very strong cross head wind on the way out and very little advantage on the way back. John Madden of Curran Racing came in first with an excellent time of 22.02, with Derek Ferguson of Kings Moss taking second place by just 2 seconds over the hosting club’s Martin Tohill.
In the women’s event, Amy Brice of (Phoenix CC) had another excellent result on a very hard night being first home with a time of 25.22 and an excellent 10th overall.… Read more

Thursday 26th April - Spires Time Trial Trilogy Round 1 - Toome
On Thursday Spires CC branch into the world of open event promotion when they run the first of their open trials on the Toome Course. There will be three events in this series, all of which will take place on the Toome course. Sign-on will be from 6.00pm and will take place in the Park and Ride facility on the Toome side of the bridge. The first person will be set off at 7.00pm.… Read more

Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial League Toome 22/04/2012
The first round of the 2012 Ernie Magwood S6 league kicked off on a cold morning on the Toome bypass, with a field of 40 riders signing on, including 7 ladies joining in to prepare for the up coming Celtic Chrono event.
Event Organiser James McLaughlin decided it would be interesting to attempt the 10 with 2 rear wheels and no front, luckily John Heverin stepped in with his spare, saving James from having to wheelie the course.… Read more
Brice Takes First Points in Bikeworks League
Amy Brice of Phoenix CC took the first points in the Women's time Trial League sponsored by Bikeworks of Bangor with an excellent 24.43. The event was held on the Woodgreen course and hosted by Ballymena Chain Reaction.
The evening stayed dry but riders faced a strong headwind on the return leg. Fortyfive competitors turned up for the Event which was also the Stan Finlay '10' and Brice's time put her in 11th position overall. There were thirteen women taking part in the Bikeworks league.
Mary Hunter of Dromara CC was next fastest of the women with 25.36 just ahead of Rachael Withers of westtyronevelo who recorded a 25.41.… Read more
Time Trial Season Begins
UWA Bikeworks TT League Round 1 -Wednesday 18th April
The open time trial season gets underway this coming Wednesday night when Ballymena host the first round of the Bikeworks UWA Time Trial League on the A26 Woodgreen course.
The sign-on is at Woodsides Kitchens on the A26 from 6.00pm with the first rider off at 7.00pm. A working rear red light is compulsory for this event.
This event is also the first selection event for any women interested in being selected to ride in the Celtic Chrono on Sunday 13th May.… Read more
Selection Information – Celtic Chrono
Cycling Ulster has been asked to select two riders to represent their clubs at the Celtic Chrono event which will be held on Sunday 13th May. This is a U.C.I. Elite Women’s Time Trial of approximately 35 km and will start and finish within the grounds of the Stormont Estate. The top 25 names in the world of female cycling will be invited and the remainder of the field will consist of the top riders in Europe, Ireland and the UK. The current Irish Time Trial Champion and the current British Time Trial Champion will be in attendance.… Read more
Celtic Chrono Launched at Stormont
Local cyclists lined up this week at Stormont to participate in the launch of the Celtic Chrono due to take place in May. This will be the only pre-Olympic Cycling event in the north. Cycling as a growth sport was well represented.
Amy Brice of Phoenix CC and Claire Oakley (WXC World Racing) represented women while members of Dromara CC cycled up from Dromara to take part in the photoshoot to represent the leisure side of things.
Family cycling was not forgotten either with Simon Stockton and his daughter lining up along with Paula Nugent and her son.… Read more
Pre Olympic Cycling Event for Belfast
BGN Sports Management are proposing to organise a UCI Elite Women’s Time Trial on Sunday 13 May 2012, the Celtic Chrono. The event is currently secured a place on the UCI International Calendar and will be based in Belfast. It will be the only pre-olympic event held in Northern Ireland. The main purpose of the event is to address the imbalance currently in Ireland whereas there are currently no UCI events for women on the road in Ireland.
This is the first year of the event and we have every intention that it will become an annual event with the possibility to extend to include a road race.… Read more
Inglis Pranced off Top Speed in Ards’10’
Ian Inglis was obviously in a hurry to rush home for his Christmas turkey this morning as he completed the Ards CC promoted ‘10’ mile time trial in a time of 22:33. The Curran Racing rider beat the home riders although William Gill of Ards did his best to take the laurels with his time of 22:57.
Following the event Bronagh and Brendan Kirk supplied hot drinks which all the riders enjoyed. Many thanks to all the officials who helped out this morning namely Ron Martin and Dany Blondeel, turn steward Desi McIlwrath and Ryan Edgar.… Read more
Foley Follies at Woodgreen Mixed 2 Up
There was a real buzz of excitement at Woodgreen this morning as the hopeful pairings of male and female testers warmed up in preparation for the 'fun' time trial event in aid of the David McCall Foundation. The sun came out and the wind died down and all was set for a perfect day. Bikes were checked for irregularities and there was a call put out for Paul Watson to come and dance with his jig to make sure everything was legal. The teams who were there early were of fairly even ability and so there was much discussion among the betting men about who would take the honours.… Read more
