More Pre-Entry events and Updates for March Races

CicliSport GP Saturday 16th March - Now Open for Pre-entry - The CicliSport GP promoted by East Tyrone is now open for pre-entry. The club are offerng a full programme of events for all categories. In the Senior category East Tyrone C.C. will be running two separate races for A1- A3 riders (handicap race) and a separate A4 race. The entry  for each race is limited to 80 riders. Riders should assume that their entry has been accepted unless they are notified by email that their entry has been placed on the reserve list.… Read more

Congratulations to Ulster Riders in Navan

There was a strong showing from Ulster riders in the Cycleways Cup races promoted by Navan Avonmore today. Conor Muphy from Emyvale, riding for the Eurocycle team held off a strong challenge from Damian Shaw of Aqua Blue to take the prestigious A event at Navan.

Gary Jeffers of East Tyrone, who has managed to shoot into the limelight recently in A1 events with his fantastic win at the Hewitt and Gilpin Phoenix GP took a well deserved fouth in this event proving that this 23 year old has undiscovered depths as a cyclist.… Read more

North Down Take Glory at the Loup -Ted McKibbin Seriously Injured

dSpires CC had everything in place today for what should have been a great day's racing. With barriers at the finish line, lots of marshalls, motorbike outriders, lead cars, an ambulance and a first aid car, the club had left nothing to chance for their first ever open race promotion.

There was a full field for both the A race for A1-A3 riders and the B event for A4 riders.

The Masters and Women event was combined today and there twenty five riders lined up. Unfortunately the roads were very 'greasy' with unlderying salt and although the riders were warned at the start of each race it did not prevent a few minor spills in both the A and B events.… Read more

Full field for P&O Tour of the North 50th Edition Race.

IMG_0495Once again the organisers of the P&O Ferries Tour of the North have attracted a quality full field of riders to contest what will be the 50th edition of the 4-day Easter stage race. With the cream of British cycling as well as Dutch and Scottish teams, the challenge will be for the locals to show their talent against international competition.

All the top line UK based teams are all on the start list, including Node4 Giordana, Rapha JLT, UK Youth, Metaltek, IG Sigma Sport and Wheelbase-Altura.… Read more

Road Racing this Weekend

Magherafelt GP Saturday 2nd March - This is the first open event promoted by Spires CC so Cycling Ulster would like to wish them every success. The club is promoting races for A1- A3's, A4's, Masters and Women. The event headquarters is the Loup GAC club.

Sign-on will start here at 9.00am with the first race off at 10.00am. This was a pre-entry event and the two main races are now filled.

There will be entry on the day for the women's and masters event.
Race 1 for A* A1, A2 and A3 – to be 7 laps of race circuit – 56 miles approx (70 rider limit + waiting list)
Race 2 for A4 only and 5 laps of circuit – 40 miles approx (70 rider limit + waiting list)
Race 3 for Over 50′s and Women– 2 laps of course – 16 miles approx

Jeffers Clear victory in Hewitt & Gilpin Phoenix GP

cThe "Hewitt & Gilpin Phoenix GP" took place today in dry and sunny conditions although it was bitterly cold. It was a busy day for the Phoenix club as they were promoting a total of five races.

The main race of the day was the A1 and A2 race. As there was a good bunch of both categories the event was handicapped with A2's getting two minutes over scratch.

Riding in this bunch was aggressive from the start with several riders lashing it at the front to try and keep scratch from closing in.… Read more

Potts and Hamilton Stamp their mark on Annaclone

aaaOn a bright, dry but extremely cold day the Ulster road race season got underway today with the traditional promotion of the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP by Banbridge CC.

The two races on offer had quickly filled up on the pre-entry and so it was a full field for both races. The A1-A3 race was set off first with A3's receiving a two and a half minute handicap over scratch.

With two big bunches on the road the A1's and2's had to work hard to close the gap but by the end of the second lap the two groups were together.… Read more

Newry Wheelers now taking entries for John Haldane

Due to races being sold out as quick as they are released Newry wheelers will have pre registration in place for the John Haldane Memorial on Sunday 3rd March. Pre-registration will be first come first served and will close at midnight on Tuesday 26th February - in the likely event of a full subscription a reserve list will also be in operation.  Those on the reserve list will be notified by email. A start list will be published on Newry wheelers website and Cycling Ulster.

Two races will be on offer; Race 1 will cater for A1’s, 2’s and 3’s (5 laps of course approx 48 mile) and will be held in a handicapped format with a small advantage given to each category to keep the racing competitive for everyone. … Read more

McCann Cup and John Moore Open for Pre-Entry

John Moore Memorial Saturday 9th March
The John Moore Memorial promoted by Castleragh CC is no open for Pre-entry. Thre are two races on offer  namelky a handicap A1-A3 race and a separate A4 Race.

The start/finish will be 2 miles from Carryduff out the Hillsborough Road and left onto Carr road where the start/finish area is located 500m from the corner, as last year.

A4 race will start at 10am sharp with the first group of the A1/2/3 race starting 10 minutes after with 3 groups in this race.… Read more

Wallace Caldwell and Clann Eireann Cup Open for Entry

Clann Eireann Cup - Sunday 17th March 2013
Clann Eireann will promote the Clann Eireann Cup Race on March 17th 2013.  The event will be open to A3 riders only with the first five riders prized.  Sign on will open at 10:00 with the race off at 11:00.  The race will consist of 8 laps of 5.8 mile circuit.  This event is pre entry and online entry is available.
Time:
Sign on open @ 10:00 am – Race off @ 11:00 am
Circuit: Balllynerry N Road – Charlestown Road – Carn Road – Kilvergan – Aghacommon Embankment
Distance: 5.8 Miles x 8 Laps
