Annaclone Produces Results for Visiting Teams

6The first of the road racing scene took place today at Annaclone promoted by Banbridge CC. The A race for A1's to A3's was a handicappped affair  with the A3 riders receiving a competitive handicap over their A2 and A1 peers. The course was a rolly 13km and this race covered a total distance of 76 km. In the end it was Mark Dowling of Strata Velo who took the win from Matteo Cigalo of Aqua Blue and Ryan Reilly of AC Bisontine.

Mark Dowling also has the honour of being the first name etched onto the Eddie Sands Memorial Cup.  … Read more

Cyclist Gear Up For Travers Engineering Annaclone GP

46Cyclists get ready to descend on Annaclone as Irish racing season gets under way this Saturday. Opening the Irish  road racing season, the Banbridge CC promoted Travers Engineering Annaclone GP will take place this Saturday, 18th February. Two races will be hosted, both of which will start and finish outside the Hawthorne Inn. The main attraction of the day will be the ‘A’ race cateringfor A1, A2 & A3 category riders which starts at 12 noon and will cover  76km.  This will be a handicapped affair with the A3 riders receiving a competitive handicap over their A2 and A1 counterparts. … Read more

The George Rooney Phoenix GP Now Open

tomThe start of the road racing season is just round the corner and before it comes the pre-entry race for places in the early season events. The George Rooney Phoenix Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 19th February this year. As usual there is pre-entry on Entrycentral.com which will open at 7pm tonight (Wednesday 1st Feb) and close on the 14th February on entry central. As entry is on a first come, first served basis with a limit on the entries for each race, riders are urged to submit their entry as soon as possible.… Read more

Annaclone Opens for Entry next Monday 6th

Opening the Irish road racing season, the Banbridge CC promoted Travers Engineering Annaclone GP will take place on Saturday 18th February with pre-entry opening on Monday 6th February at 6pm. Two races will be on offer for competitors; a handicapped race catering for A1, A2 and A3 categories and a mass start A4 support race.

The ‘A’ race for A1,2 &3’s will be 6 laps of the traditional circuit for a total race distance of approx. 47.5mi / 76.5km.  The ‘B’ race for A4 men and A3/A4 women will cover 4 laps of the same course giving a total distance of approx.… Read more

Ballymena RT This Sunday

1The annual Ballymena Road Club – Chain Reaction Cycles – Reliability Trials will be held on Sunday 22nd January it is expected that cyclists from all over Northern Ireland will assemble at Rex Bonar House , Railway St, Ballymena for the 10.00am start.
Registration for the event will commence at 9,00am with an entry fee of £10 being charged. The entrants will divided into two groups with a choice of two distances of 53 miles and 75 miles.

The A group will face a 75 miles ride, which will take in Antrim, Greystone, Templepatrick, The Longshot to Ballyrobert, then Mossley, Greenisland, Woodburn, Kilroot, Glynn, Larne and the pit stop at Ballygally.

Donegal Masters RR Championship Cancelled

The Donegal Masters Road Race Championships which were due to be promoted this weekend by North Donegal CC has been cancelled. The club apologises for any inconvenience caused but unfortunately the club had no alternative but to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. The event was last promoted in 2014 and it is hoped that 2017 will see the return of this hard fought competition.… Read more

11/09/2016 – 100 Mile Ulster Time Trial – Woodgreen

Hutchinson, Lamont and Hargan Among New Ulster 100 TT Champions
In what only can be described as horrendous conditions a group of hardy men and women lined up a Woodgreen this morning to take part in the Ulster 100 mile Time Trial Championships. While the riders faced a headwind initially by the time they had completed four of the seven laps the wind played a significant part in reducing the rider's speed. Chris Hutchinson of Team Madigan proved to be the fastest rider over 100 miles managing to break the four hour barrier, despite the wind, recording an excellent 3:59:50.… Read more

Conor McCann and Alan Lavery win at Loughgall

image18Conor McCann and Alan Lavery proved strongest in Square Wheels CC’s inaugural Autumn Gold Road Race which was run off in glorious September sunshine in Loughgall today. Despite the early start, riders travelled from as far as Donegal and Dublin hoping to take advantage of the last chance for points before the road season wraps up.

There were separate A3 and A4 races, both taking in four laps of a rolling 12.5 mile circuit. The A3 race started at a relatively steady pace but as riders tried to slip away during the race, the pace started to rise.… Read more
