Gray Takes First Yellow in Lakeland 2 Day

aLakeland CC turned on the sunshine this morning for one hundred riders who turned up at the Share Centre to sign-on for the Lakeland 2 Day stage race for A3 riders.

Today's stage would cover sixty miles of scenic roads around the lakes and rivers of Fermanagh.

The race had hardly begun when three riders leapt off the front and began to open a gap on the main field. These included Barry Hamilton (North Down CC), Nicky Gormley (Carn Wheelers) and Conor Sprice of Lakeland CC. … Read more

Round 2 North West Youth League

aThere was a great turnout of youth riders at the second round of the North West Youth League promoted by Omagh Wheelers last Sunday.

The league developed as a result of the very successful Youth League which was promoted by Errigal CC last year.

For 2016 three clubs in the North West -namely Erigal CC, Donegal Bayand Omagh Wheelers came to gether to spread the workload. Each club committed to organising at least one round of the league and to date these have been supported by Youth riders from all over Ulster.… Read more

Heaney Takes First Win at Bann Valley

Sunday, 12th April saw 160 A2, A3 and A4 riders take to the roads around Portglenone and Clady to compete in the annual Bann Valley Classic.  Despite a technically difficult circuit the pace was fast and the riding aggressive.  Many breakaways were attempted, however the windy conditions proved too much and these riders were soon pulled back.  The A2/A3 race therefore finished with a bunch sprint, with Carn Wheelers Marc Heaney spotting a gap in the pack and sprinting through to achieve his first win of the season.Special congratulations to Marc on this fantastic achievement. … Read more

Lakeland CC Two Day Stage Race Details

On Saturday and Sunday Lakeland CC will promote a two day stage race for A3 riders only. This event was pre-entry and is now full. The event is an ideal opportunity for A3's to test themselves on three stages over two days and to gain valuable points. Full details of the running order can be viewed below.

Tour of Mournes opens for entry on Friday

The Tour of the Mournes opens for entry Friday 17th April at 7.30pm via Entry Central
This year sees the  Tour of the Mournes re introduce A1 riders.The course will be the same as last year with 72miles of racing.This race is limited to 80 riders and receives PSNI support.

The O'Leary Stone Kanturk 3 Day will take place from Saturday 2nd May to Monday 4th May, The May Bank Holiday weekend. There are races for all categories including Youth. This is a pre-entry event and the entry form can be downloaded at the end of this article.

Details Ras na nÓg 2015

Drogheda Wheelers are delighted to announce details of this year's Ras na N'og youth stage race. This year's event will take place on Sat/Sun April 18th/19th. We are also delighted to announce a brand new headquarters this year. Bellewstown Racecourse in Co Meath will play host to the event.

Already on the Cycling Ireland grant aided events list we are thrilled to have Gery Cumiskey VW Commercials returning to us as a sponsor and also the IVCA have come on board as joint title sponsor, a real example of the older members of our sport giving to the youngest members.… Read more

Clogher Valley GP Open For Entry Tuesday

On Sunday 3rd May 2015, Clogher Valley Wheelers will be promoting the inaugural Clogher Valley GP in and around Ballygawley, County Tyrone. Two races will be on offer on the 15 mile course - a four lap race for A3 riders and a three lap event for A4 racers. This race is sure to sell out quickly as it will provide an opportunity for A3 and A4 riders to race over what is normally a closed weekend with the Tour of Ulster taking place.

The usual prize money is on offer for winner and placed riders in each category along with a commemorative jerseys for the winner, KOH and sprinter in each race.The jerseys for the race winners are sponsored by SoCycle Bike Shop Augher.

Good Turn-Out for Youth TT

4There was a good turnout this morning for the Youth Time Trial promoted by the David McCall Foundations in conjuction with Maryland Wheelers.

Despite the extremely blustery conditions there were lots of good times recorded.

The event took place on a circuit course outside Crumlin and the event forms part of the popular David McCall Youth Series. The U12's did one lap, the U14's did two laps while the U16's completed three laps 0f the 4.8 mile course.

Island Wheelers up and coming rider Darren Rafferty took the honours in the U12 event with a 13.49 ahead of Sarah Elder of Carn Wheelers and Shea O'Kane of Phoenix CC.… Read more

What’s On This Weekend

Bann Valley Classic Sunday 12th April
On Sunday 12th April the Bann Valley Classic take place in Clady just outside Portglenone. This event was pre-entry and is now closed. There are two races on offer namely a race for A2/A3 riders and one for A4 riders. Races will take place over an eight mile circuit and all racing will start at 2.00pm sharp. The A race will cover six laps of the course while th eB race will cover five laps.
