Northern Regional Interclub Series

Roe Valley Hosted the Latest Round of the Northern Regional Interclub Series on the Shanvey Circuit outside of Limavady. With the Absence of the current points leader, the Vergesport Point Jersey was worn By Nigel Bradley of Northwest CC, and with 3 Intermediate sprint and points awarded on the Finish line. There was ever the chance to take the outright Lend of the Jersey.

Action got under way with numerous attacks but to no avail, with Bann Wheelers and Northwest keeping control of the race for the 1st Intermediate sprint.… Read more

Foyle GP Open for Entry- Note Date Change

Upwards of 100 riders will compete in the next stage of the Ulster Roadman Series, when Foyle Cycling Club hosts a Grand Prix on 17th July. With 2015 race winner David Watson of North Down Cycling Club due to defend his title, Foyle Cycling Club is confident that this year’s race will be one of the most competitive in recent years.

Although the Roadman series had been absent from the Ulster cycling calendar for the last few years, it made its return in March with the Tour of Ards.… Read more

03/07/2016 Ulster 50 Mile TT Championship – Woodgreen

Christie Crowned Ulster 50 Mile TT Champion
The 50 mile TT Ulster Championships hosted by Maryland Wheelers were held in conjunction with the Tommy Givan TT Cup  on the fast Woodgreen course today. Twenty nine riders set about achieving their own personal goals in conditions which competitors confirmed were less than favourable. A blustery wind made a hard day in the saddle even more difficult but the silver lining was that the rain stayed away.

However, there were some great times and it was the current Irish 50TT record holder Marcus Christie (ASEA) who claimed the top honours with a time of 1:43:11.… Read more

Competitive Events this Weekend.

This weekend sees Newry Wheelers promote their very popular three day stage race on Friday to Sunday while in Donegal Four Masters Cycling Club witll be promoting the JG Memorial Race on Saturday For those who prefer to go it alone against the clock you can line up in the Ulster 50mile Tommy Givan Championship event. Tommy Givan/Ulster 50 Mile Time Trial Championship – Sunday 3rd July 2016

The Tommy Givan 50 Mile Time Trial which incorporated the Ulster 50 mile TT Championship will be  run on the Woodgreen course next Sunday 3rd July. The event will cover 3.5 laps of the course. Sign on is at the lay-by adjacent to Tannaghmore Service station on the A26 dual carriageway between Antrim to Ballymena. Sign-on opens at 8.00 and closes at 8.45 am. with the first rider off at 9.00am
There is no pre-entry for this event and riders can enter on the day of the event.… Read more

Congratulations to Hargan and Madden

Following the National Masters Championships yesterday Ulster has two new All Ireland champions as Sean Hargan of Phoenix CC won the M60 event with Ballycastle man, John Madden (Inspired Cycling) taking the Champions jersey in the M50 event.

The racing took place  over a rolly 27km course around Kilcullen, Co. Kildare organised by Orwell Wheelers.  In the M60 race Sean Hargan of Phoenix CC  opened up a gap on the main field on the start of the penultimate lap. Sean , who is a well known time triallist then used these skills an put his head down to time trial to the finish holding a thirty second gap back to the main field. … Read more

Douglas Wins Lurgan Criterium

aLast night Clann Eireann CC promoted a very successful criterium around the streets of Lurgan for Youth and A4 riders. The senior race for A4's provided an opportunity for many newcomers as well as experienced riders to have a go at this form of racing. Crit racing requires good bike handling skills and the ability to negotiate corners.

Brandon Douglas of West Down Wheelers certainly showed that he had skills aplenty when he won the event from Gavin Moore of North Down CC and Paul Smith of the recently formed Portadown Cycling Club. … Read more

Laverty Remains in Green and Bann Wheelers take Club Win.

1Causeway CC held the latest round of the series on the footsteps of the iconic setting of the Giants Causeway. Martin Bradley of Northwest CC takes the Vergesport points win on round 5 of the Northern Regional Inter-club Series. Bradley attacked in a solo effort in the first lap and went on the take the sprint in the only prime of the night and took 4th place at the finish to take the points win by 1 point over the Vergesport point leader Stuart Laverty. Stuart continue to wear green with a Lead of 15 points over Nigel Bradley of Northwest CC.… Read more

With the National Road and TT Championships taking place from Thursday through to Sunday there are no road race events this weekend. Details of events can be see below. National Championships Event Information

The 2016 National Road Race Championships will take place in  Kilcullen from the 23-26 June promoted by Orwell Wheelers. This year's Championship has not had a smooth passage this year with the venue being changed several times. However Orwell persevered and now have courses which they feel are worthy of a championship.  The new courses in Kildare will provide a perfect location for top class racing across the Elite Women, Elite Men, U23 Men, M40, M50 and M60 categories. The Road Races will take place in Kilcullen over 25-26 June, with the Time Trial course running from Kilcullen to Athy and back on Thursday 23rd June 2016.… Read more
