Call Eireann Youth Crit 29th June

1Clann Eireann will be promoting a series of crits for young riders on Friday 29th June. There will be racing for U10's, U12's U14's and16's and both boys and girls will be catered for. There will also be a novice race for beginners.

The event will take place in Lurgan Park with sign-on from 6.00pm to 6.30pm.

Parking for cars will be at Waves Swimming pool car park.

Newry Wheelers Defend their TTT Title in Style

4The Newry Wheelers squad of Des Woods, Sean Featherstone, Colm Quinn and Aidan Bingham descended on Ballymena tonight with coach Barry Monaghan in tow to defend their Ulster Team Time Trial Champions title from all comers. Racing past the finishing post with a time of 48:04 for the 25 mile distance they were a good twenty seconds faster than nearest rivals the Powerhouse team. However the Powerhouse squad were all juniors and the three finishers were Cathir Doyle, Xeno Young and Breandan Flanagan. Potts Takes McCann Cup for Second Weekend Victory

The 16th edition of the McCann Cup took place in dry, but bitterly cold conditions at Fintona on Sunday 18th March. A record number of entries from across the north and south travelled to Fintona for the popular race sponsored by Ballmore Services. A full suite of races was on offer including Womens, Masters, A4, A3 and the main A1/A2 race.

In the A1/A2 race, a full field took to the start line with the A2 riders getting a handicap advantage of 3mins. However, the A1s behind quickly got to business and 7 riders broke away from the 40 rider pack and bridged the 3min gap after only 25miles of racing.… Read more

Results of St Patrick’s Day Races in Donegal and Ballymacash

While St Patrick may not have turned over the sunny side of the stone, the bitterly cold weather did not deter riders turning out for the two races held in Burt Donegal and Ballymacash in Lurgan.

In Donegal North Pole CC promoted a series of races covering the junior and senior categories. Mark Potts of Neon Velo romped home as winner of the main race while Claire O Neill of Armagh City Cyclists took the women's prize.

Meanwhile in Lurgan Clann Eireann CC were promoting the Derrymacash GP, a handicapped race for A3 and A4 riders.… Read more

Bingham Wins Haldane Race in Newry

Newry Wheelers put on a fine display on and off the bikes today with 2 wins several top tens and top organisation. The Wheelers promoted 4 races on the day and all went well.

In the John Haldane Memorial the local club took the race by the reins early and loaded the break with 4 riders which included McKinley, O Neill, Bingham and Featherstone and along with Banbridge duo McKee and Buller with Chris Richardson they drove the break on. The chase of Watson, Potts, McCann couldn’t jump across to the final 4 and it was these 4 that battled up the tough Grinan hill finish.… Read more

Phoenix GP Cancelled

The Phoenix GP which was due to take place on Sunday has been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions. See statement from the club

Annaclone GP Cancelled due to Adverse Weather

Due to the heavy fall of snow overnight last night (Wednesday), and continued forecasted snow and freezing temperatures the racing committee of Banbridge CC have agreed to cancel this year’s Travers Engineering Annaclone GP on grounds of safety for all involved with the event. The event was due to take place on Saturday, 3rd March.We are working closely with Cycling Ireland office staff to arrange a FULL refund to all those who have registered for the event. This is likely to run into next week with the Cycling Ireland offices closed both today (Thursday) and tomorrow due to the weather conditions.As a club we are of course disappointed to be forced to make the decision to cancel, however with continued extreme weather conditions forecast it is with confidence we can assume the roads will be in no condition for racing on Saturday, and we take this opportunity to advise and consult with all those involved sooner rather than later.… Read more

The Ulster 100 mile Time Trial Championships took place on Sunday and despite windy damp weather eleven riders took part with eight finishers. Newry's Niall Clarke took the Senior Gold medal with a superb time of 3:51:45. He was followed in by John Madden of Inspired Cycling in a time of 3:56:19 and he takes the gold medal in the M50 class. Silver and bronze in this category went to Island Wheelers' Noel McLoughlin and Patrick Morning of Four Masters respectively. … Read more

McCann and Mooney in Top Form at Loughgall

aSquare Wheels Cycling Club Moy in County Tyrone had the privilege of closing out the 2017 Ulster road racing season with their Autumn Gold Road Race in Loughgall. There was racing for A3, A4, over 50s and women. A field of almost 180 riders took to the road in warm and sunny conditions demonstrating that September is a great month for racing in Ireland.

The Over 50s and women's race, sponsored by the Old Corn Mill, Killyman, were home first covering a distance of almost 38 miles with 3 laps of the rolling 12.5 mile course.… Read more
