South African Team for the Errigal Youth Tour.

SOUTH AFRICAN TEAMYorkshire Cycling Academy from the south west of South Africa are already travelling to Donegal for the Errigal Youth Tour this weekend.

On Sunday 28 July 2013 one of the major  goals of the Yorkshire Cycling Academy will be realised and one of the solid “bricks” in the development pathway of the Academy youngsters will be laid. The Oliver Kane Cup A3 and A4 Races at Dervock This Saturday.


Ballymoney CC will promote The Oliver Kane Cup A3 and A4 Shield Road races at Dervock on Saturday 20th July.

There will be a programme of Youth racing.

Under 16 race 1st - 3rd (Cash prizes)

Under 14 race (Memorial Shields)

Under 12 race (Memorial Medals)

A3 and A4 80km road race on a fast and exciting circuit. with the Oliver (Big O) Kane Memorial Cup for the first A3 and the local Restaurant has donated a perpetual shield for the first A4 rider.

There will be cash prizes for the first 5 riders, and depending on the numbers signing on there will be specially dedicated collectable medals presented.… Read more


Youth Camp 2013 – Off-road skills coaching for riders 6-14

Cycling Ulster's Off-road commission is putting on a summer series of off-road skills sessions for Under 14s. This is the third year that CUORC have run these events and they are hoping that they are just as popular as before.

All six sessions will happen on Monday evenings between 7 and 8:30 pm and will be located in various locations with the first session on Monday 15 July 2013 at Belvoir Activity Centre in Belfast.… Read more


Cycling Ulster team ride well in Junior Tour of Ireland


A four-man team of Ulster Juniors travelled to Ennis, Co. Clare last weekend to tackle the Junior Tour of Ireland. The team consisting of Craig McAuley (VO2 Development Team), Angus Fyffe (Omagh Wheelers CC), Curtis Gilmore (Team Madigan CC) and Declan Reid (Newry Wheelers CC) faced opposition from France, USA, Holland, GB and the best Irish riders around.

Acknowledged as the world’s longest junior stage event, the pace was fast and furious with average speeds each day of 25mph. The racing was aggressive with riders targeting the King of the Mountains, Points and Overall competitions. Read more


Cycling Ulster Teams Announced for the Errigal Youth Tour.

DSCF2419In 2013 the Errigal youth tour will be held around the Co. Donegal village of Chrchill for the second year in succession during the weekend of the 3rd to the 5th of August.  There will be strong teams from around the globe entering the race and, not to be outdone, Cycling Ulster will field their own strong teams in age categories 1 and 2.

There was much interest in representing Cycling Ulster at this event and with a strong crop of young riders competing within Ulster the selectors had a hard time picking the teams.  … Read more


Ulster Riders Set for European Youth Olympics.

EYOThree riders from Ulster will be members of the Cycling Ireland team who will be traveling to the Euroean Youth Olympics in the Netherlands  from Dublin airport on Wednesday morning.  The three riders are Declan Mulholland, Jake Gray and Ciara Dougan.

These riders have all been training extremely hard for this event for the majority of the year and going by recent results they are in top form.… Read more


CU Youth Training Sessions Begin in Jordanstown.

2013-06-30 11.20.49Cycling Ulster has held the first in a series of youth road race and time trial training session at the University of Ulster  Jordanstown campus.

The sessions were well attended and the riders undertook a series of skills based activities to improve their cornering, TT starts and group riding.  Then the riders, accompnyed by pairents and Cycling Ulster youth officer Colin Hughes, went for a youth 'club run' arround the south Antrim countryside.  As ever with a club run towards the end the riders had the oppertunity to have a bit of a lash, in this case up the two mile climb of Knocka.… Read more


Cycling Ulster UK School Games Team Announced.

DSCF2419With so many talented riders interested in representing Ulster at the UK school games  it was a very difficult task for the selectors to pick the teams.

Team manager Nicola Oldham arranged a selection event in which riders were put through their paces in three events based on the events the riders will face during the games.

The trials were not the only measure the selectors took into account but they were a significant part of it and they proved that we have very many talented young riders in Ulster.… Read more


Cycling Ulster team target the Junior Tour of Ireland


On Tuesday 2nd July, a strong Cycling Ulster Slane Cycles Junior team travels to Ennis in Co. Clare to take on a strong list of International riders and the best Ireland has to offer. The 4-man team will tackle 6 days of competitive racing in what is acknowledged as the world’s longest junior stage event at 500kms. The selected riders are: Craig McAuley (VO2 Development Team), Angus Fyffe (Omagh Wheelers CC), Curtis Gilmore (Team Madigan CC) and Declan Reid (Newry Wheelers CC).

Craig McAuley is no stranger to success in racing after he was crowned U16 Irish National Road Race champion in 2012.… Read more


Final call for CU youth teams for Donegal.

ERRIGAL INTERNATIONAL YOUTH TOURThere is less than one week to go to the deadline for expressions of interest from riders who wish to be considered for the Cycling Ulster teams at the Errigal Youth Tour in Donegal at the start of August.  The deadline is Monday 1st July.
