Good luck to CU teams heading to the Sainsburys School Games.

photo(8)Cycling Ulster are sending a boy's and a girl's team to the Sainsbury's School Games in Sheffield this weekend.  The Teams will leave tomorrow (Thursday) in time to arrive for the opening ceremony of the games on Thursday evening.

The three days of competition will begin on Friday and continue through to Sunday.  The Games rotate each year among the different cycling disciplines, road, off road and track.  This year the cycling events will be road based.

I'm sure that all in Cycling Ulster will join with me in wishing all involved the best of luck for the event.… Read more

Apollo Finishes XC Series In Style

aThe fifth and final round of the Ulster XC MTB Series for 2013 took place at Craigavon Watersports Centre on Sunday 1 September 2013 and was hosted by Apollo Cycling Team.  The venue is the flattest of the series and is therefore the fastest with long stretches of hard packed earth to ride across this makes this circuit ideal for those riders who are accustomed to doing road races.

UK Youth MTB Interregionals – Riders Needed.

Cycling Ulster intend to send a boys and a girls team to the UK interregional MTB event to be held in Hadleigh Farm, the location of the Olympic MTB events in 2012.  The event will be held from Friday 4th Oct to Sunday 6th Oct therefore riders selected will have to miss one day of school (Fri 4th).

The teams are open to Ulster riders in the under 16 age category or younger.  There will be a selection event so riders interested in being selected are asked to email team manager Nicola Oldham to register their interest and receive details of the selection event, please find Nicola's email address below.… Read more

Ballymoney Cycling Club Promotes the Dalriada Challenge Sat 31st August.

DKGlogoThis coming weekend will be very busy for Ballymoney CC who will hold their Dlariada Challange on Saturday and the Ulster RR champs on Sunday (see septate article for details of the champs).

The Dalriada cycling challenge will  raise money for B.A.R.K. and local Children's Welfare and will begin at Roseyards Church Hall (114 Kirk Road  Ballymoney BT53 8HN).  Sign on will start at 9:00am and the challange will start at 10:00am sharp.  There will be three routes on offer, 100Km, 50Km and 25Km (see below for details).  … Read more

New Ulster Youth Champions

On Sunday the Ulster Youth Championships hit the roads around Gweedore and provided a day of great races, surprises and no little effort on the part of the provinces talented youth riders. In the U12 race Aaron Heaney of Clann Eireann showed a real return to form by winning the mornings time trial and then going on a solo breakaway from the start of the road race to win by a good margin. Errigal's Dylan Traynor won the bunch sprint comfortably to take second with Oisin Doherty from Donegal Bay in third.… Read more

Errigal Host Ulster Youth Championships on Sunday

Following on from their very successful promotion of the International Youth Tour the hard working Donegal based, Errigal Cycling Club,  will promote the Ulster Youth Championhips this coming Sunday. This is a must for all Youth and especially for those who hope to take part in the National Youth Championships promoted by Slaney CC on Saturday 24th.

This is a very important event on the Cycling Ulster Calendar and we would encourage as many Youth riders as possible to go along to the event. This  should be an exciting day of championship racing for Ulster Youths.… Read more

Good luck to Young Mtbers in Austria

Best wishes to our three Banbridge Cycling Club members  James Curry, Shannon Buller  and John Buller as they make their way to Graz in Southern Austria this weekend .  They are part of a team of six and will join fellow Cycling Ireland members Leah Maunsell, Patrick Michel and Jamie Grifferty to represent Ireland , as part of the Youth Development XC mountain bike  team as they compete in the UEC European Mountain bike Championships. They have put a lot of hard work and training into this team and the upcoming event.  … Read more

Errigal International Youth Tour Report.

Last weekend Errigal CC promoted the Errigal International Youth Tour for the second year.  The four stage event was as big as success as last year and Cycling Ulster would like to congratulate the organisers as well as all the riders, parents, guardians and helpers who went to Donegal last weekend.  A particular word of congratulations goes to all the Ulster riders including the eight riders who rode in the Cycling Ulster teams.  Please find post race report from Errigal CC and  some photos below.
All who attended this weekends event agreed that in terms of Youth Cycling the Youth Tour is a magnificent example of how it can be done and how an event such as this can only inspire and promote Irish Cycling to not only the UK but globally.… Read more

Cycling Ulster Youth RR and TT Sessions Continue This Sunday.

The Cycling Ulster youth RR and TT training sessions will continue with another session this Sunday 11th Aug.   This session is open to both male and female riders who race in the U16 or U14 age categories.  There is no need for pre-entry, just come along on the day. The session will begin at 12:00 in the University of Ulster’s Jordanstown campus.

The session will begin with a skills session which will last for about an hour in which we will cover advanced cornering and sprinting, parents/guardians are asked to assist the coaches during the skills session.  … Read more
