Aiken Dominates at Opening CX Event

The first round of the 2013 Ulster Cyclo-cross series took place on Sunday 6 October at Lurgan Park.  The weather was overcast with a strong breeze but it was warm and the park, magnificent in autumn colours, was busy with walkers as well as cyclists.  The crew from Apollo CT and the local park staff were on site from 7 am laying out the course which covered a wide expanse of the park.  The conditions were good, despite having rain for four days up to Thursday, the dry, warm weather on Friday and Saturday had left the course running well.  … Read more

Updates from Hadleigh Farm

Today was the first day of the competition on the inter-regional mtb championships at Hadleigh farm. It consisted of a Skills Event and the Cycling Ulster Slane Cycles Team performed well but had mixed fortunes in this event.

Skills Event
This skills course was designed on the same standard as what was used at the European MTB Championships course in Austria this year. A highly technical and challenging course based over 7 stages with 3 points per stage to be gained. The team performed strongly in this opening event under huge pressure from silenced crowds watching and under the watchful eye of commissaires on each section.… Read more

The Maze management team and Lisburn city council were very supportive of our event but getting permission to use the site goes further up the 'civil service/government' chain where it has stalled.

The David McCall Foundation is fuly comimitted to supporting Youth Cycling in Ulster.

Apologies to everyone, but on a brighter note we have the plans and volunteers in place for the future.… Read more
