Women Only Cycling Sportive Launched in Derry
The annual Ladies' Only Cycling Sportive, hosted jointly by the Foyle Hospice and Foyle Cycling Club, was launched this week. The sportive will be held on Sunday 11 September, with the start and finish at the Foyle Hospice on Derry's Culmore Road.
Now in its second year, the sportive plans to become an established event in the north west sports calendar, drawing people from all across the north of Ireland. In 2015, riders travelled from Antrim, Belfast, Inishowen, Limavady, Monaghan, Omagh, Randlestown and Sligo, raising almost £1500 that went towards the Hospice's badly-needed services.… Read more

Ulster 25 mile TT Championships Sunday 28th August 2016
Island Wheelers are proud to host this year’s Ulster 25 mile TT Championships. The event will take p;ace tomorrow, Sunday 28th August. The first rider will be set off at 10.00am. Sign on will take place from 8.30am at Dungannon Swifts Football Club, Stangmore Park, Far Circular Rd, Tyrone, Dungannon BT71 6PP. Showers, changing facilities, and light refreshments will be provided here.
The course will be as follows
Starting 0.5km after the Stangmore roundabout on the new a4 From Dungannon (Woodlough Road) to Ballygawley, going towards Ballygawley, proceed round the roundabout and exit towards Dungannon/Belfast.… Read more
Dowling Takes North Down GP
While many of the riders were complaining about the heat on Sunday as they took part in the North Down GP it was certainly preferable to the torrential rain which began just shortly after the prize giving.
The main Race for A1-A3 riders was the last counter of the National League Road Race Series so the event attracted a top class field. The racing was aggressive over the 140 km of the event with the peloton fragmenting early on as breaks went off the front, were pulled back and then more breaks developing.… Read more
20/08/2016 Ernie Magwood Super 6 :Round 6
The final round of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial League took place last night on the Woodgreen course in less than favorable conditions. The Super 6 TT league has been well supported throughout the year and some fast times have been reported especially on the Woodgreen course. This time it was the turn of John Madden to top the leaderboard posting the fastest time on the night with a 20.01 and also giving him the fastest M50 time. Second place went to aspiring Junior, Marc Heaney of the NRPT squad with 20.06 while Rodney Stewart (U/A) continues to impress by taking third with his 20.09.… Read more

Square Wheels Autumn Gold Classic RR Now Open
Square Wheels will be picking up the baton to keep the road race calendar alive into the Autumn by running its inaugural Autumn Gold Classic on September 11th in Loughgall, County Armagh. There will be three races on offer A3 (50 miles), A4 (50 miles) and Over 50s and women (38 miles) with a generous prize fund on offer with the support of Tomney’s Bar, Moy and O’Kanes Superstore Armagh.
Square Wheels are also working in partnership with local charity, MACS NI to promote this event.… Read more
Round 6 Ernie Magwood Super 6 TT This Saturday
Round 6 of the 2016 Hayes Fuels Ernie Magwood Super 6 league takes place at Woodgreen on Saturday 20th August.
Sign on is from 09:00 first rider off at 10:00am Riders will require a minimum of a limited competition licence, and also a rear light. (Front light also advisable)
Riders will be issued with a TT rules guideline which will be emailed out with pre entry. Pay particular attention to this. Riders riding in an illegal manner will be excluded for the rest of the season.… Read more
Hennebry Pips Dowling In John Beggs
As if winning the National Criterium last night in Banbridge wasn't enough for Mark Dowling of Asea Wheelworx, he was back today for another Banbridge CC promoted event namely the John Beggs Memorial Race. From the outset it was obvious that he wasn't out to stretch his legs after last night's efforts. He eventually got away in a break and coming to the line there was a two up sprint between himself and Conor Hennebry of AquaBlue. In the end Hennebry had the kick to take the win with Dowling having to be content with second position.… Read more
John Beggs Open for Pre-Entry
Pre-entry to the 2016 John Beggs Memorial promoted by Banbridge CC on Saturday 13th August is now open for entry. Two races will be promoted in Dromore, Co. Down, as part of the event. The main race for the day catering for A+, A1, A2 & A3 category riders is the penultimate round of the National Road Series and is expected to attract a very competitive field, but with a generous prize fund for unplaced category riders there will always be something for everyone to

Christie Tops the Chart at Ulster 10m TT Championships
Marcus Christie, who broke his own 50-mile TT Irish record last Wednesday night, continued his winning form by setting a course record of 18:34 at the 10-mile TT in Eglinton, County Derry, today. The event, which was hosted by Foyle Cycling Club, saw an impressive field of 70 riders compete across all disciplines. With a strong southerly wind aiding riders on the return journey to the finish, Christie mastered the circuit and had almost two minutes to spare on Chris Hutchinson of Team Madigan in second place with 20:32, and Christian Nachtigall from Belfast club Phoenix, completing the Senior Men's medal list.… Read more
