All Day Racing at McCann Cup
Known throughout Ulster as the ‘friendly races’ because of the warm welcome extended to all, the McCann Cup events got under way this morning at 11.00am when the 50+ Masters took to the roads around Seskinore.
With almost forty riders lining up for this event it was the biggest field seen so far and proves that the popularity of these events is growing.
First off were the over 60’s who were given a two and a half minute advantage over the young fifty year olds. The group tried to use this to their advantage and worked well together but in the end were no match for the strong riders in scratch.… Read more
Drama at Spires CC as Rea and Campell Win
It was all hands on deck today at Ballyronan Marina as Spires CC got set to launch their annual Spires GP supported by Cathcart Centra. When riders had signed on, the hard working catering crew at Spires ensured that they were able to enjoy tea/coffee, extra large hot sausage rolls, scones with jam and cream and biscuits as they gazed out across the calm waters of Lough Neagh and dream that they owned one of the smart little boats bobbing in the Marina.

CicliSport and Newry Hospice Cycle Now Open for Entries
Saturday 28th March Ciclisport GP
East Tyrone C.C. will be running three separate races at their annual East Tyrone C.C. Ciclisport Grand Prix 2015 and they will also be running two races for Youth namely for U14 and U16 riders. This will be the Tommy Smith Memorial Race.
The U16 event will be considered as one of the counter selection events for the European Youth Olympics and a big crowd is expected to attend this race.

There is lots on offer this weekend to suit all tastes and abilities. With races on Saturday and Sunday, the first of the Ulster XC Series on Sunday and a couple of leisure events throow oin for good measure riders are spoilt for choice.

Rás na nÓg now Open For Entry
Drogheda Wheelers have announced details of this year's Rás na N'og youth stage race. This year's event will take place on Sat/Sun April 18th/19th.
The event will have a brand new headquarters this year. Bellewstown Racecourse in Co Meath will play host to the event.
The will be sponsored by Cycling Ireland and previous sponsor Gery Cumiskey VW Commercials returning as a sponsor. This year the IVCA have come on board as joint title sponsor, a real example of the older members of our sport giving to the youngest members.… Read more
The Importance of Pointing Out Holes; Not Just Calling Them.
If you are riding in a group, whether in a race, a leisure ride or a club run, we all know that it is nearly impossible to see potholes, stones, broken glass, large puddles or other obstacles when you aren’t at the front.
As cyclists like to keep each other safe clearly it is important that the riders at the front communicate these hazards to the riders behind them.
Traditionally these hazards were physically pointed out to riders behind, but in the last five to ten years it has become the fashion to shout ‘HOLE LEFT’, ‘HOLE RIGHT’ etc.… Read more
Great Youth Event in West Donegal
Today Errigal CC promoted the first of this year's interclub Youth Series. Last year forward thinking Errigal CC promoted four youth events which were attended by riders many other clubs. This year Omagh Wheelers and Donegal Bay have been in discussion with Errigal CC in order to spread the load and provide different venues for the young riders. Together these clubs will host a total of six events.
Despite the bitter cold and high winds the small village of Dobhar was choc-a-bloc with young cyclists from all over Ulster.… Read more
John Moore Memorial Road Race 2015 Report
This time last year Castlereagh CC had 7 members including 2 kids, who, through a huge amount of work on individual's parts and with help from friends, somehow yet again ran the John Moore Memorial Road Race - successfully.
This year Castlereagh have 33 members including 4 kids and a cool new kit. They have now upped their game and ran two separate races, including a separate Women's League event.
The 4 lap Women's Race was a huge success with 17 women taking part and a great attacking race.… Read more
Information and Directions Errigal Youth Races
Errigal youth race U12, u14 and u16, on Sunday 1st March. Sign on from 9:30am at Ionad Naomh Padraig, Dore (near Crolly, where the Ulster youth chmps were in 2013). This is the first of a series of six youth races being hosted by Errigal, Donegal Bay and Omagh Wheelers cycling clubs over the coming months.

Carn Classic Road Race Open on 5th March
The Carn Wheeler’s Classic road race will take place this year on 22nd March at 1.oopm As per previous years, there will be an A race (for A1, A2 and A3 riders), a B race (for A4 riders), plus a Masters and Women's race.
Each race will follow a number of laps as below and will be all left turns, until the last lap where each race will turn right for the final short drag into the finish in Maghera.
In the interests of safety each race will be limited to a field of 70 riders with a reserve list in operation when the race is full.
