Irish Squad for European Track Championships
A 13-strong Irish squad is putting the finishing touches on its preparations for this week's European Track Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland. Seven women and six men have been selected to take part in a range of events over the five days of the championships including all the individual and team endurance events as well as selected sprint events.
The meeting kicks off in the 250m Swiss velodrome tomorrow evening where Team Ireland will ride in the qualifying rounds of the men's and women's four-kilometre Team Pursuit.… Read more
CI President Comes to Belfast for New Woman Only CX Event
Tomorrow, Sunday, Phoenix CC will be promoting their CX event in Lady Dixon Park, a venue which has been used for the past number of years and always promises exciting racing both for spectators and participants.
In a move away from the norm of Ulster CX events, Phoenix CC took the decision not to host an MTB support race for men but to run a women only CX and a women only MTB support race instead. This is the first time in the history of Irish cyclocross that women have had their own, completely separate event and to mark the occasion Phoenix CC will presenting a special perpetual trophy - the Phoenix CC Cyclocross Trofee.… Read more
Good Results in Inter-regionals
The 2015 British Cycling UK Inter-Regional Road Championships provided Ulster with one of its best results yet, both individually and for a team, in one of the counting events.
In the Street Sprint event, Harvey Barnes (East Tyrone CC) went two better from last year to take the outright win in the competition, beating off 51 of the best riders in the UK to take the top step of the podium, to give us our best ever placing in these Road Championships. … Read more
Life after Diabetes Cycle Challenge This Saturday
This weekend the hardworking Square Wheels club are running their strive for 5's Sportive from Donegal to Belfast in aid of Diabetes UK. Strive for 5's is a cycling sportive which was started in 2013 by Adrian McNally, a member of The Moy Square Wheels Cycling Club to raise awareness and funds for Diabetes UK.
The cycle takes place each September from the West coast of Ireland, Ballyshannon in Donegal to Belfast on the East coast - Atlantic to Titanic. This year the event is this Saturday 27th September.… Read more
Youth Squad For Sheffield for Inter-regional Championships
An 8 rider Cycling Ulster Youth squad will head to Sheffield this weekend for the season-ending British Cycling UK Inter-Regional Youth Championships which will take place over three days with racing centred around the National Trust property at Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire.
The Cycling Ulster team will comprise four Girls and four Boys, witha strong representation of National Champions and medallists among the number.
The Boys’ team is made up of Adam Ward (Omagh Wheelers), Harvey Barnes (East Tyrone CC), Conor Halvey (Errigal CC) and Xeno Young (Powerhouse Sport),whilst the girls have North Down CC duo of Molly McLarnon and Katie Armstrong along with Shauna McFadden (Errigal CC) and Amanda Gallagher (Caldwell Cycles Omagh).… Read more
Mullen Best of the Irish in 11th. at World Championships
Ryan Mullen has finished in 11th place in the Under 23 Time Trial on the first day of action at the World Road Championships in Richmond, Virginia. Eddie Dunbar was 38th in the same event while Ciara Doogan was 28th in the earlier Women's Junior Time Trial.
Last year's silver medallist Mullen started second last of the 50 riders by which time drizzle had begun to fall at the start line. At the first intermediate time check after 7.5km, Mullen had lost 25 seconds and, though he improved on the more open second half of the first lap, the damage was already done.… Read more
Burns Brings Women’s ’10’ Record Back to Ulster
Ballymena's Eileen Burns has added the Irish 10 mile Time Trial record to her impressive list of achievements this year. Eileen has just finished competing in Rás na mBan, the women's international stage race in Ennis as part of the Cycling Ulster Slane Cycles team where she showed her time trialling skills by coming fourth overall in the TT Stage.
However, not content to take a well deserved break following this gruelling event, Eileen decided to head to Yorkshire at the weekend to take part in the Swift Open 10TT on the V718 course.… Read more

Two Ulster riders have been seleted to represent Ireland in the World Road Race Championships in America later this month. Ciara Doogan of Errigal CC will compete in both the Junior TT and road race events while Jake Gray of the Nicholas Roche Performance team will compete in the men's Junior road race.… Read more
Exciting Racing at Ulster Road Race Championships 2015
Foyle CC had a busy day today when they promoted the Ulster Road Race Championships in Eglinton. With recent changes to the category system this was no easy task as Foyle ran no less than six races to facilitate Senior men, women, Juniors and the new veteran categories of M40 , M50, and M60.
Foyle had chosen a tough 27 mile course with a lot of climbing which would test riders in all the races. Winners in each category would be worthy champions.
First into the fray were the M40's who would complete two laps of the course.… Read more
Ulster Road Race Championships Sunday 13th
On Sunday 13th September 2015, Foyle Cycling Club will be hosting the Ulster Road Championships at Eglinton, Co Derry. This is a new course to Ulster cycle racing. Each lap is 45.6 kms long, starting at the main street Eglinton village, and features 524m of total ascent.… Read more
