Super 6 TT Series Round 1 : Saturday 9th April
The first round of the 2016 Hayes Fuels Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial Series takes place this Saturday on the Toome circuit. Click HERE for a map of the start location and also the course. Riders will require a minimum of a limited competition licence, and also a rear light. (Front light also advisable). All other TT rules apply. Road Race, Leisure and Off Road Race Events this Weekend

Saturday 2nd April 2016 : Ciclisport GP
The Ciclisport Grand Prix for 2016 will take place on Saturday 02nd April. This is a pre-entry event which is now filled. The Race HQ is the Loup GAA and sign on is from 9.00 to 9.30am. There are races for U14, U16, A1/A2, A3 , A4 and Women. There is no Master's race due to time constraints. Racing starts at 10.0am for U16, U14 and Women.  The Women's race Race is part of the Ulster Women's League. Youth Races are part of the Ulster Youth League.Racing starts at 12.30pm for: A1/A2, A3 and A4

There are quite a number of events taking place this weekend with leisure, road racing, off road and time trialling all on the calendar. Details below.

Rnd 1 Ulster XC League Sunday 13th March Craigavon Lakes - Pre-entry now open
On Sunday 13th Apollo CC will be hosting  Round 1 of the very popular Ulster Cross Country Series.Unfortunately there is also a 5k/10k fun run taking place at the same venue. To accommodate both events the senior races will be started later.

Under 16s, Senior 4 men, Senior 3 women, Under 14s – new start time of 13:00

Two Reliability Trials This Weekend

Strabane Lifford Reliability Trial & Sportive Trial

Strabane Lifford Cycling Club is holding their 3rd Annual Reliability Trial & Leisure Cycle this Sunday 28th February 2016. There was a good turnout of local clubs last year and S.L.C.C. would like to build on this by helping riders build and taper their winter training for the coming season. Sign On from 9am and starting from 10am. There will be directional signs from Lifford Bridge to Naomh Padraig GAA Lifford. The route the riders will take the following areas: Lifford, Rossgier, Nixons Corner, Newtown Cunningham, Manor roundabout 38 mile group turn left for Lifford 54 mile group turn right for Letterkenny, Kilross, Convoy, Raphoe, Ballinalaghey Crossroads and turning right for Lifford completing a hard 54 miles.… Read more

Up Coming Leisure Cycles

There are two worthwhile charity cycles coming up in early March. These are Newry Wheeler's Cycle for Autism on 6th March and North West CC's Cycle for Young Parkinsons on the 12th March. Full details below.

Lakeland Reliability Sunday 21st February

lkOn Sunday 21st Feb 2016 Lakeland CC will promote their reliability trial which will be leaving from Bawnacre in Irvinestown. Sign-on is from 9:00am with the run due to leave at 10:00 am.The distance for the run is 90km.The entry fee is £10 for CI members and £15 Non-CI members

The touring group can go across Bridge at Rosscor and down Lough Shore Rd. RT group go to Belleek, Right for Garrison, up past Windmills (nice new tar) and descend to Lough Shore rd at Blaney.… Read more

Great Turn-out at West Down Wheelers Charity Cycle

aNews of the famous West Down Wheelers hospitality has obviously spread as over three hundred riders turned out today for the Wheelers Charity Cycles, The Tour of Down. The main event took in many of the hills around Rostrevor, Hilltown, Castlewellan and Katesbridge but this did not put anyone off tackling the event. There was also a shorter, easier route through Bryansford.

As usual West Down Wheelers did not stint on ensuring the safety aspects of the event and had plenty of backup for those with mishaps.… Read more

Leisure Events and RT’s This Weekend

West Down Wheelers Coastal Run - Saturday 13th February
wd1Starting/Finishing in Katesbridge Hall. Sign on from 8.30am. A Run 64 miles moving off 9.30am. B Run 43 mile at 5 mins later. Entry Fee is £10 or £12 if you have no Cycling Ireland Licence. Lead cars and Broom wagon available on the day.

A Run Route : Castlewellan, Newcastle, Annalong, Kilkeel, Rostrevor, Yellow Water, Outskirts of Hilltown, Kilcoo, Castlewellan and finish in Katesbridge.

B Run Route : Castlewellan,  Newcastle, Bryansford, outskirts of Hilltown where you join onto the A Run Route into Kilcoo, Castlewellan and finish Katesbridge.

Tough Conditions at the EACC Reliability Trial.

EACC_RT_16_1There was a good turnout in Carrickfergus this mooning for the annual East Antrim CC reliability trial and all the talk before the start was about the almost gale force south westerly winds.

The club put on an A and a B run with the A run covering 70 miles and the B run 55.  The conditions down the Antrim coast road, where the wind really hit hard, were severe but the riders battled on getting some tough miles in the legs.

Toby’s 50/50 Charity Cycle-Saturday 6th February Times Updated

Well known cycling photographer, Paul 'Toby' Watson, will celebrate his fiftieth birthday tomorrow by raising money for charity. In conjunction with his club, VC Glendale, Toby is organising a 50k cycle to help raise money for the Cancer Fund for Children. This is an approved Cycling Ireland event and all riders are welcome. The event takes place tomorrow, Saturday 6th February.
