Ulster Track Riders in International Action.
A quartet of Ulster Track Riders will be in action this weekend in the 2-Day UCI International Track meeting in Dublin. The riders are all `sprint` type riders, with two Under 23 riders taking part along with a top international field. Seasoned U23 rider David Neill (Team Madigan) will take part in the Sprint competition and the Under 23 10 km Scratch event, whilst 21 year-old Ballymoney CC newcomer Ronan Sherman will contest the Sprint and Keirin events. Ronan has already impressed this year, having contested the Duane Delaney event and national Omnium championships.… Read more

There will be a Youth Training day at Orangefield Track in Belfast this Sunday (6th) in preparation for the upcoming Sainsbury`s UK School Games (Track) and UK Inter-Regional (Road) Championships both of which take place in September. Commonwealth Games Selection
The final selection for the Commonwealth Games squad has been chosen and I am delighted to introduce the line up for cycling for Glasgow 2014. A lot of hard work has gone into getting cycling places for the games and it is brilliant to know we are getting 14 places as well as three coaches the most that the sport has ever had.
It is also important to remember those that were not selected as some riders were involved in every camp right from the start.… Read more
Track Cycling in Ulster
Often referred to as Cycling Ulster`s best kept secret, Orangefield Track in Belfast has been around since the mid-1950s, pre-dating Cycling Ulster by almost 30 years.
It is the only purpose-built Track in Ulster, and is in regular use, albeit only when weather and soccer fixtures permit.
We continue to produce National Champions at Orangefield as well as catering for World Masters medallists, National series winners, Novices having their first taste of Track Cycling, and even our own Track hero Martyn Irvine has been known to go faster than his (motorised) Derny pilot in preparations which led him to his 2013 World Title.… Read more

Track Training and Accreditation Thursday 15th May
On Thursday night training and track accreditation will get underway at the Tommy Givan outdoor track at Ornagefield, Belfast. For those who would like to try track racing then this is the place to be as you will need to be accreditated before being allowed to enter competition. If you do not have a track specific bike a small number are available for hire for a nominal sum.
Unfortunately as this is an outdoor track it cannot be used when it is raining so the event may be cancelled if the inclement weather continues.… Read more
Lynch Takes Silver C2 Pursuit at Track World Championships
Colin Lynch won Silver in Men's C2 3km Pursuit at the UCI Paracycling Track World Championships, recording a blistering fast time of 3.43.423. In the Gold medal ride off he met reigning Paralympic Champion from China, Guihua Liang, who out powered him over the 3km race against the clock. Both tandems were competing in the 1km Time Trial, earlier this evening, where they finished outside the medals, with Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal storming to a new National Record in a time of 1.10.893. Ireland's Enda Smyth was also in action today, breaking the Irish Record in the Men's C3 Pursuit in a time of 3.40.297, putting him in tenth place.… Read more
Expressions of Interest Required Sainsbury`s School Games
Expressions of interest are sought from Youth riders (Boys & Girls) interested in being considered for selection for the Sainsbury School Game and Inter-Regional Competitions. All events will take place within a short space of time of each other at the end of the Summer.
Currently all that we require is that riders interested in being considered for any or all of the Games mentioned below contact us expressing initial interest. Further criteria will be issued later.
Currently Cycling Ulster has not decided if all the events will be targeted this year.… Read more
Ards CC Recognise their World Champion
Last night Ards CC put on an evening to recognise and celebrate the achievements of one of their former members,Martyn Irvine. The attendees were welcomed by Desi McIlrath, Chairman of Ards CC before Billy Kirk came on stage to give some background information about the evening.
He talked about beating Martyn when he did his first time trial as a young 18 year old . But as Martyn persevered with the cycling Billy recognised from an early stage that this was someone special.

Solid World Championships for Silver Medallist Irvine
Martyn Irvine finished in sixth place in a thrilling Points Race at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Cali, Colombia, last night.
Irvine, who won a silver medal in the Scratch Race yesterday, lapped the field once, and won three of the maximum sprint points, to finish 6th in an event where the medals were decided between riders who had gained three laps advantage.
Colombia's Edwin Alcibiaes Avila Vanegas won the World Title, to the delight of the home crowd, with Thomas Scully (NZL) taking Silver ahead of Eloy Teruel Rovira (ESP) in Bronze Medal position.… Read more
