Youth Camp 2013 – Off-road skills coaching for riders 6-14

Cycling Ulster's Off-road commission is putting on a summer series of off-road skills sessions for Under 14s. This is the third year that CUORC have run these events and they are hoping that they are just as popular as before.

Caldwell Cycles is proud to host the 2013 Ulster Mountain Bike (Cross-Country) Championships at Gortin Glen Forest Park, near Omagh County Tyrone on Sunday 30 June. Sperrin MTB Leisure Sportive Sunday 23rd June

The Sperrin MTB Sportive promoted by Harps CC has grown in popularity every year and takes place this coming Sunday 23rd June.
The event gives riders of all abilities the opportunity to ride both  open mountain and the recently opened Davagh Forest Trails.  Each year we have improved not only the course but also every aspect of the event, this year is no different.

Noel Teggart RR and Sperrin MTB Leisure Event Open for Entry

Noel Teggart Memorial Races Sunday 9th June
Pre-entry for the Noel Teggart Memorial races, promoted by Banbridge CC on Sunday 9th June,  will open from 18:00hrs this Friday (31/05/13).  Entries will only be accepted via email to race organiser Aaron Wallace ( aarwallace@gmail.com), emails received prior to 18:00 on Friday will not be valid or counted.

It is hoped that entry numbers will support a separate A1*/A1/A2 & A3 race, judgement on this will be taken by the organising committee once entries are submitted.  If numbers are not sufficient to support this a handicapwill be applied for the A3 & A2 groups. … Read more


Ulster XC Rd 3, NPS Rd 4 Sunday 26th May

 XMTB McConvey Cycles will promote Round 3 of the Ulster XC Series this coming Sunday in Lady Dixon Park. This event also doubles up as the NPS Round 4 event.

Over the past four years, Lady Dixon has quickly gained a reputation as a great XC race venue. The course, fast and flowing in nature, has produced some close, intense racing which will, no doubt, be better again this year with the new race categories. The Club are looking forward to welcoming folks that have previously raced the course and hopefully some new faces as well.… Read more

Thrills and Spills at Ulster XC in Rostrevor

aAlmost 250 mountainbikers took part in Round 2 of the Ulster Cross Country Series which was promoted by Dromara CC on Sunday as well as 250 taking part in the downhill event (Round2 of the iDMS).

Held in the beautiful setting of Kilbroney in Rostrevor, the event was part of the Festival of Mountain biking which took place in the forest over the weekend to mark the opening of the new trails.

The XC event along with a Downhill event were held on Saturday and Sunday with an Enduro event on Monday.… Read more

May Day Bank Holiday – Feast of Off Road Cycling – Rostrevor

rosRostrevor Mountainbike Festival in Association with Newry & Mourne District Council will take place next weekend between 4th - 6th May. Practice kicks off on Saturday 4th May and three local clubs, each specialising in different disciplines, will be organising the events to ensure a very special rider experience.

Chainreaction Cycles club will be organising round 2 of the Irish Downhill Mountainbike Series (IDMS) on 5th May, Dromara Cycling Club will be organising round 2 of the Ulster Cross Country Series on the 5th May and Plush MTB will be organising an Open Enduro event on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.… Read more


Kids Love Off Road Training Days

3The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission hosted the second of their training days for youth, women, beginner men on Sunday 21 April
at Belvoir Activity Centre in Belfast.  There were thirty four people in attendance, mostly young riders.

The sessions were taken by Martin Grimley the Cycling Ulster Off Road Chairman and Colin Hughes, the Youth Commission Chair.

The riders were taken through a number of skills and tackled climbing embankments, going through trees and riding over grass. It was obvious from the look on their faces that they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.… Read more

mtbBarnett Demesne Trails Information Evening Today

All mountain bikers are invited to an information evening re: Barnett Demesne Trails @ 18:30 on Wednesday 17th April.

This information evening is being held at Belfast Activity Centre in Barnett Demesne and will begin with a welcome and introduction by Belfast City Council.

Outdoor Recreation NI will provide an overview of the X-Country trails and jumps park. There will be a quick overview of the role of MountainBikeNI moving forward and an opportunity for Q&A with each of the speakers.

Great Turn-out for Ulster XC at Ballykelly

aThe 2013 Ulster Cross-Country Mountain Bike Series kicked off at Ballykelly Forest near Limavady on Sunday.  This was the second year that the host club, Strabane / Lifford CC, had put on an off-road event at this venue and they were blessed with fine weather in the lead up to race day and on the day itself.

This provided a great dry course for all riders. The turn out was up on last year and the level of organisation of the club was stepped up as well.… Read more
