Halloween Fun this Weekend – Road and Off Road
Saturday 25th October - October Soup Cycle
The October Soup Cycle is being promoted on Saturday by Church Island Cycling. It is the last roadbased leisure event of the year.
The event starts in Bellaghy and there are four routes on offer to suit every level of cyclist.
The main route is 50 miles with several optional escape routes suitable for novices and youth. There are options for a 20 mile, 40 mile and 47 mile course. Most of the routes are flat except for the 50 mileroute which takes in the climb of Matty's Brae.… Read more
Ulster squad performs strongly at the Inter-regional Mountain Bike Championships
The Inter-regional Mountain Bike Championships took place over the weekend of the 19-21 September 2014. The competition was open to youth riders aged 16 or under to compete against 13 other UK regions. The three day competition was based at Hadleigh Farm in Essex where the 2012 Olympic MTB event was held. The Ulster squad for this year consisted of four riders: Adam Duff, Calvin Moore, Cameron McIntyre and John Buller. … Read more
Great Turn-Out At MTB at Craigavon
The sun shone at the lakes in Craigavon for the fifth and final round of the Ulster Cross-country Mountain Bike series. This round was hosted by Apollo Cycling Team whose members have been working hard on developing the course and adding in new features not used in previous years. The course takes in a circuit around the lakes starting from the Watersports centre which has a café, separate room for sign on, showers, toilets and bike wash facilities. Beside the car park there is the grassy hill section which has a large stone erected on the top as the focal point and is surrounded by a circular line of trees. … Read more

Events on this weekend 6/7 September
A host of leisure events on this weekend along with some competitive ones too. On Saturday the Dave McCall Bun Run heads out, on Sunday the leisure rider has the choice of the PIPS run, the Harvest Tour, Spires CC Sportive and the Minnie Clarke Tour. For the off-roaders there is the final round of the Ulster XC series at Craigavon on Sunday.… Read more
A return to Castlewellan Forest for the Ulster MTB Championships
A great day at Castlewellan Forest Park with dry conditions for the 2014 Ulster Cross-country mountain bike championships which took place on Sunday 24 August 2014. Event headquarters was placed prominently on the hill in front of the castle which then had a great vista overlooking the lake and forest. Banbridge Cycling Club have worked closely with Down Council and the Forestry Service to create a course which used parts of the trail centre trails, fire roads and sections of forest single track. … Read more

Youth off-road skills training evenings during the summer
Cycling Ulster's Off-road Commission is hosting 4 sessions of youth off-road skills evenings starting on Monday 30 June 2014. The sessions are aimed towards riders under 14 years of age with the training taking place in 4 different venues which have flat grass areas. This is now the fourth year that the commission has been running this type of training and we do hope to see lots of young riders coming along.… Read more
Dry trails at Garvagh Forest MTB race
Garvagh Forest, located in the centre of the town of Garvagh, was the location for Round 5 of the Irish Mountain Bike Cross-Country National Point Series (NPS), hosted by Carn Wheelers. This round also doubled up as Round 4 of the regional Ulster Cross-country (XC) series. The club had ran the Irish National Championships at this venue in 2013 and had put on the same set up for this round with car parking in the old school grounds and start/finish on the main fire road. The course itself was largely the same with some new sections added that the course designers had been working on since the championships.… Read more
